A Day in the Life

In this role, you will join a world-class team of engineers within the Surgical Operating unit responsible for developing medical devices that focus on lung cancer diagnosis.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Lead a team of high-performing researchers to develop innovative algorithmic solutions that support and advance our medical device from the fields of Machine Learning, Computer Vision, and Image Processing
  • Represent the algorithm team in global forums and communicate ongoing progress, key results, risks, and challenges to global stakeholders
  • Lead the algorithm development lifecycle: research, design, implement, validate, document and optimize algorithms for our products
  • Provide technical direction and mentorship to algorithm developers; conduct design/code reviews and ensure best practices and high-quality deliverables
  • Partner with Data, Software, Systems, Clinical, and Product teams to define requirements, plan milestones, manage risks, and drive end-to-end delivery from prototyping to production

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • B.Sc. in Computer Science/Software Engineering/EE/other relevant field or equivalent work experience – Must
  • MSc. or PhD in Computer Science/Software Engineering/EE/other relevant field - Advantage
  • Proficiency and proven experience in developing, optimizing, validating, and deploying machine learning algorithms, deep learning techniques, and AI models to production
  • Passion for continuous learning and staying updated on AI advancements and trends
  • 7+ years of R&D experience (algorithms / ML), including ownership of end-to-end delivery
  • Proven leadership experience (team lead / tech lead), including mentoring, prioritization, and driving execution across multiple stakeholders
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in Python (ability to lead by example with production-quality code)
  • Team player with very strong leadership and communication skills; able to influence and align across R&D and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Structured problem solver with sound technical judgment and data-driven decision making
  • High ownership: able to plan, prioritize, and drive tasks end-to-end while unblocking others and managing risks
