The Rollins College Information Technology Department is seeking an AI Technologist to join their team!

Providing our Community with Outstanding Experiences

  • Collaborate with Faculty: Foster relationships with faculty to understand their needs. Work closely to integrate educational technologies and AI tools into face-to-face, blended, and hyflex modalities. Partner to support multimodal class assignments, providing resources, class trainings, and student support.
  • Support Learning & Professional Development: Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to develop AI use cases. Create and conduct workshops, training sessions, and other events that build fluency in AI and broader instructional technology tools and pedagogical best practices.
  • Resource Development & Maintenance: Develop and maintain a library of resources such as tutorials, guides, videos, and infographics supporting AI tools and instructional technologies for faculty, students, and staff.
  • Provide Technical Support: Provide ongoing technical support and troubleshooting for the college’s LMS (Canvas), and other tools like Kaltura, WordPress, Microsoft Office Suite (including Teams and Copilot), Adobe Creative Cloud, etc.

  • Foster Inclusive and Accessible Learning Environments: Embrace and embed best practices in accessibility, UDL, the ethical use of AI, and inclusion into all aspects of instructional technology and resource development.
  • Actively promote these standards not only by advising but also by employing these principles in the support we provide.
  • Inspire Innovation: Act as a dynamic change agent with passion and aptitude for using AI technology and demonstrating an understanding of its potential to reshape teaching, learning, and college operations. Stay up-to-date with the latest AI trends, best practices, and emerging technologies.
  • Pilot Emerging Tools: Explore and experiment with new and emerging AI tools, evaluating their potential applications for teaching, learning, and institutional operations.
  • Resource Management: Manage AI tool licenses and subscriptions, including provisioning user access, tracking renewals, and maintaining accurate usage records.

Building a Sustainable and Support Model

  • Contribute to a Collaborative Team: Actively contribute as a cohesive team member, providing support and working in concert with colleagues within the instructional technology team and the broader IT department.
  • Commit to a culture of shared goals, mutual support, and open communication to enhance team effectiveness and achieve departmental objectives.
  • Manage Projects: Utilize project management software to plan, coordinate, and execute a range of individual and team-based projects.
  • Sustainable AI Adoption: Guide the ethical, effective use of AI in teaching, learning, and college operations, including AI-assisted content creation and integration, for faculty, students, and staff.
  • Communicate AI Trends: Create and maintain a regular cadence of AI newsletters communicating emerging trends, tools, and best practices, initially for the internal IT team, with plans to expand to the broader campus community.

Minimum Qualifications & Education:

  • Bachelors' degree from an accredited university or college.
  • Experience using AI tools and supporting their adoption across an organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with education software and systems.
  • Experience working in higher education environment.
  • Classroom teaching experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Communication & Visual Design
    • Ability to design simple, user-friendly, accessible, and visually appealing resources (e.g., PPTs, infographics, social media posts, video shorts, etc.)
    • Ability to communicate effectively (i.e., clearly, collegially, openly, accessibly) with diverse groups including those with varying levels of technical skills
    • Excel in active listening and problem diagnosis, adeptly interpreting and understanding user issues, even when expressed without technical clarity.
  • Instructional Design & Pedagogy
    • Knowledge of (and ability to apply) Universal Design for Learning and other instructional design theories and pedagogical methods
    • Knowledge of online, hybrid (blended), and hyflex teaching strategies and best practices
    • Ability to locate and understand scholarly research on teaching & learning and then apply and share that knowledge
    • Understanding of ethical considerations around AI use in education, such as academic integrity and appropriate use.
  • Collaboration
    • Ability to identify, develop, and facilitate engaging, accessible, user-centered, and high-value professional development opportunities for faculty, staff, and students
    • Ability to work well with diverse groups and academic disciplines
    • Ability to both apply a collaborative approach to projects and challenges and make independent judgments/decisions within established guidelines
  • Organization & Adaptability
    • Ability to adapt to changes in technologies, particularly emerging AI tools, and assist others in doing the same
    • Strong project management skills (i.e., break projects down into steps, use backward planning to establish timelines, organize and prioritize workload, regularly communicate progress, and meet deadlines)
    • Flexibility in work schedule, including punctuality and the ability to work extended hours and on weekends as needed
  • Technical Expertise & Tools
    • Familiarity with a wide range of academic technologies, including Generative AI, Learning Management
    • Systems, WordPress, Podcasting and Video tools, Adobe Creative Cloud apps
    • Advanced technical and troubleshooting skills for both Mac and PC operating systems
    • Familiarity with HTML and Microsoft Excel

Work Environment:

  • This is a campus-based, front-facing customer service position working in Winter Park, FL
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and visual strain working on a computer.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
