Purpose

As a crucial part of the AI team, the Software Engineer, Role is responsible for delivering AI solutions that aid business operations. The engineer develops products that combine software, data, and various digital tools to offer valuable insights and suggestions, assisting business leaders in making both tactical and strategic decisions. These products may utilize a blend of descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytical methods. The methods deployed can range from generating reports and designing dashboards to managing streaming data, implementing machine learning models, and applying other analytical techniques.

The software engineer will work on one or more product teams to create end-to-end software solutions to meet the requirements of the product. The software engineer will work on a team comprised of a product designer, data engineer, data scientist, business subject matter experts, and a product owner. The engineer’s role is to bring the end-to-end product to life following product design requirements. Product designs and features will be unique based on business cases and may require the engineer to leverage skills across an entire “full stack”. Sometimes, the task could be creating a comprehensive full-stack application that can be delivered to the end-user in multiple ways. In other situations, the assignment might involve designing an automated report that delivers predictive data to business leaders. Therefore, the software engineer should possess a diverse set of skills to deliver various kinds of digital solutions that meet a wide array of product design requirements.

The software engineer must be accustomed to work in a product team environment to deliver solutions and understands the unique differences between product design and software engineering. Products will be delivered leveraging agile principles, moving quickly to create a minimal viable product (MVP), testing with customers throughout the process, and continually improving and adding features.
