Job Description

About the Role & TeamIDC is seeking an experienced and hands-on AI Engineering Team Leader to guide our AI engineers.

This role will be central to driving delivery excellence, team development, and operational maturity as we build and scale AI-powered applications that transform how IDC generates insights and delivers value to clients.

You will work closely with engineering staff, product owners, analysts, and stakeholders to ensure reliable delivery of production-grade AI solutions while fostering a culture of quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and mentor a team of AI/ML engineers, conducting regular 1:1s, code reviews, and performance feedback
  • Own the team's SDLC processes including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives using Scrum methodology
  • Ensure production stability and operational excellence for deployed AI applications, including incident response and support escalation
  • Drive adoption of engineering best practices: testing strategies, CI/CD pipelines, documentation standards, and code quality
  • Collaborate with product owners to translate business requirements into technical deliverables and realistic sprint commitments
  • Coordinate cross-functional work with data teams, analysts, and infrastructure teams
  • Monitor team velocity, identify blockers, and continuously improve delivery processes
  • Balance hands-on technical contribution with leadership responsibilities as needed
  • Report on team progress, risks, and capacity to engineering leadership team.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 5-7+ years of experience in software or AI/ML application development, with at least 2 years in a team lead or technical lead capacity
  • Demonstrated experience supporting production applications including on-call rotations, incident management, and SLA ownership
  • Strong working knowledge of Scrum/Agile methodologies; Scrum Master certification preferred but not required
  • Proficient in Python with familiarity in frameworks such as FastAPI, Pydantic, or similar
  • Experience with full SDLC ownership: requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD practices, automated testing, and DevOps principles
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to bridge technical and business stakeholders
  • Proven track record of developing junior engineers and building high-performing teams

Preferred

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Familiarity with AI/ML tooling and LLM-based application development
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar project management tools
