In this position, you will apply your growing expertise to contribute to Pearson’s AI C4E research and technical exploration efforts. You will participate in hands-on investigations into emerging AI techniques, help build experimental systems and tools, and contribute to the development of AI-first features that inform future product directions. By collaborating with stakeholders across Pearson and combining your AI and engineering skills, curiosity-driven experimentation, and a pragmatic mindset, you will help shape a forward-looking AI ecosystem that supports innovation in learning and helps people realize the lives they imagine through learning.

What You’ll Do
Build Prototypes That Matter
Design and development of PoCs and prototypes that demonstrate the potential of emerging AI technologies in content generation, assessment, and innovative AI-driven personalised learning experiences.
Translate conceptual ideas into working demos contributing to the development of both AI components for innovative concepts, while also building and demonstrating applications with fully integrated front-end interfaces and back-end systems.
Execute R&D with Growing Independence
Take ownership of well-scoped R&D workstreams, delivering high-quality outputs with increasing autonomy.
Apply established standards for code quality, scalability, and experimentation. Proactively identify opportunities for improvement within your workstream.
Collaborate Across Boundaries
Partner with product managers, designers, researchers, and business stakeholders to understand use cases and contribute to feasibility and solution design.
Support communication with non-technical audiences, helping translate technical work into business-relevant insights.
Explore Emerging AI/ML
Stay ahead of trends in ML, GenAI, LLMs, and AI tooling to identify opportunities for innovation.
Evaluate new models, frameworks, libraries, and platforms for rapid prototyping and experimentation.
Share insights and learnings with the broader AI community to foster continuous improvement

What You Bring
Strong proficiency in one of the following AI/ML areas Ideally both:
LLMs, SLMs, Agents
Machine Learning – Deep Learning, Computer Vision, Reinforcement Learning
Experience with public cloud platforms and their AI-related services.
Understanding AI/ML applications in the educational content contexts.
Ability to work independently on complex tasks and contribute meaningfully to team projects.
Good communication skills and comfort working with cross-functional stakeholders.
