The opportunity:

Hitachi Energy is seeking a highly motivated and seasoned AI Project Manager to spearhead our AI Solutions Team. The AI Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering AI initiatives across the organization. This role acts as a bridge between business stakeholders, technical teams, and external vendors to ensure AI projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with strategic business objectives. The role requires strong project management expertise combined with a working understanding of AI/ML technologies.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams (internal and external).

  • Lead cross‑functional AI project teams consisting of data scientists, AI engineers, solution architects, product owners, and external vendors.

  • Plan and manage end‑to‑end AI project delivery, including scope definition, timelines, budgets, risk management, and dependencies.

  • Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and delivery milestones across project teams.

  • Track project performance using KPIs, dashboards, and regular status reporting.

  • Drive accountability, resolve delivery bottlenecks, and proactively mitigate risks and issues.

  • Promote collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement across teams involved in AI initiatives.

  • Translate business objectives and requirements into structured project plans and delivery roadmaps.

  • Prepare and present project proposals, business cases, progress updates, and post‑implementation reviews to leadership.

  • Coordinate closely with internal teams (product, engineering, data, security, compliance) and external AI vendors or partners.

  • Manage stakeholder expectations, communicate trade‑offs, and escalate risks or decisions as needed.

  • Support change management activities and drive user adoption of AI solutions through communication and training coordination.

  • Ensure AI projects follow defined delivery frameworks, governance standards, and best practices.

  • Oversee project adherence to data privacy, security, regulatory, and ethical AI requirements in collaboration with relevant teams.

  • Manage vendor engagements, including scope alignment, delivery tracking, and performance reviews.

  • Support release planning, deployment coordination, and integration of AI solutions into existing systems and workflows.

  • Facilitate retrospectives and lessons‑learned sessions to improve future AI project delivery.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of AI/ML concepts, data pipelines, model lifecycle, and deployment approaches to effectively manage delivery.

  • Collaborate with technical leads to understand solution architectures, dependencies, and risks.

  • Support tool, platform, and framework evaluations from a delivery, scalability, and cost perspective (not direct implementation).

  • Ensure technical complexities and constraints are appropriately reflected in project plans and stakeholder communications.

  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.

  • 8+ years of overall experience in technology project or program management.

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience managing AI, ML, data, or advanced analytics initiatives in an enterprise environment.

  • Proven experience delivering complex, cross‑functional projects involving data scientists, engineers, product teams, and external vendors.

  • Experience working in global, multi‑vendor, and distributed team environments.

  • Strong background in managing budgets, timelines, risks, dependencies, and executive reporting.

  • Experience working in a global, cross-functional environment.

  • Exposure to enterprise AI applications in sectors like healthcare, finance, manufacturing, or retail.

  • Certifications in Project Management (Prince2, PMP etc.) AI/ML or cloud technologies.
