The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies. Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes. IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.

The AI Products Software Engineer, Fullstack is an engineering role supporting Corning’s Enterprise Generative AI platform. This role focuses on hands-on development, learning platform architecture, and contributing to AI-enabled applications under the guidance of senior engineers and product leaders. The position provides exposure to full-stack development, AI integrations, and enterprise-scale platforms while emphasizing strong engineering fundamentals and agile delivery.

Responsibilities

• Support development of frontend and backend features for AI-enabled web applications using React.js and Node.js
• Assist in building and maintaining Generative AI platform capabilities including chat interfaces, integrations, and tooling
• Help implement and maintain authentication and authorization flows using enterprise identity systems
• Contribute to integrations with AI services and APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, or similar) under guidance
• Support basic Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) workflows including document ingestion and retrieval
• Assist with platform stability by troubleshooting bugs, performance issues, and configuration problems
• Work with databases and data stores such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or Redis to support application features
• Participate in testing, debugging, and deployment activities using CI/CD pipelines and containerized environments
• Collaborate with senior engineers, product managers, and designers to translate requirements into working software
• Participate in Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives
• Follow established coding standards, documentation practices, and security guidelines

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Typically requires 3-5 years of professional software development experience or equivalent academic and project experience.

Required Skills

• Working knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript and Python
• Basic experience with React.js and modern frontend development concepts
• Familiarity with Node.js and RESTful API development
• Understanding of databases and data access patterns (SQL or NoSQL)
• Exposure to cloud or containerized environments (Docker preferred)
• Basic understanding of authentication concepts (OAuth, tokens)
• Experience working in agile or Scrum-based teams
• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn

Desired Skills

• Exposure to Generative AI concepts, LLM APIs, or AI-enabled applications
• Familiarity with Databricks, Hugging Face, or vector databases
• Basic understanding of RAG pipelines or AI integrations
• Experience with Git, Jira, and CI/CD tools
• Interest in enterprise platforms, integrations, and scalable systems
