Job Description

We're looking for an AI Product Lead to lead the practical application of AI across complex technical and business environments. You'll take AI initiatives from initial concept through experimentation, pilot deployment and into embedded, production-ready operation, working across multidisciplinary teams, business stakeholders and technical specialists to ensure AI delivers measurable, trusted value.

What you will be doing:

  • Identifying, assessing and prioritising AI opportunities, developing business cases and maintaining a delivery roadmap.

  • Leading proof-of-concept and pilot work through to full operational deployment, defining success criteria and capturing lessons learned.

  • Managing and directing a multidisciplinary team (data scientists, engineers and analysts), ensuring models and solutions are validated, interpretable and production-ready.

  • Bridging business needs and technical delivery, translating opportunities into practical, adopted solutions.

  • Driving modernisation of tools and platforms, including transitions to more efficient or open-source alternatives where appropriate, without compromising quality or fidelity.

  • Establishing governance, data quality and responsible AI practices, ensuring initiatives comply with organisational policy and ethical standards.

  • Monitoring adoption, utilisation and realised benefits, reporting progress and value delivery to senior stakeholders.

  • Acting as the organisation's focal point for AI matters, working closely with data owners, architects and governance forums to ensure data and AI practices remain trustworthy and fit for purpose.

Formal qualifications or training:

  • Degree in a relevant technical, data or engineering discipline; advanced degree (M.S./Ph.D.) or equivalent professional experience preferred.

  • Proven track record leading AI/ML or data-driven initiatives from concept through to operational deployment.

  • Experience managing or leading multidisciplinary technical teams.

  • Strong understanding of AI governance, data governance and responsible AI principles.

  • Experience relevant to a regulated, multi-site environment (nuclear, defence, energy, or similar) is desirable but not essential; clear transferable experience will be considered.

  • Relevant professional certification (e.g. Agile/Scrum, Data Management, AI/Cloud platforms) desirable.

About DBD International

DBD is an independent global enterprise providing innovative solutions to complex technical, engineering and strategic challenges in highly regulated industries. Our success since launch in 2004 has been built on the quality of our delivery to our Clients, provided by our management and technical expertise. This consistent high quality delivery has led to the establishment of trust based, long term relationships with our Clients.

Since 2004 we have had an unswerving focus on recruitment of leading management and technical specialists who, on average, have over 20 years international experience in front end design, process and systems engineering, commissioning, decommissioning, safety and regulation in the nuclear, power and chemical plant sectors.

Today, our specialists operate across many major processing and power sites, including key nuclear sites in the UK. We also provide services to Clients and Partners in North America, Europe, Japan and South Africa. Whilst we guard our independence fiercely, we work with or alongside most major companies without becoming in any way biased towards any individual technologies, designs or operators.

A key differentiator for DBD is our dedication to building a clear understanding of the Client’s requirement, their objectives and success criteria. The expertise of our personnel underpins this quality-assured approach to all of our work.
