AI Platform Engineer Intern (m/f/d)

AI PLATFORM ENGINEER INTERN (m/f/d)

Bayer S.p.A. within the Strategy Excellence & Innovation function is looking for a talented and motivated AI Platform Engineer Intern. This role offers hands-on exposure to AI platforms, cloud technologies, and MLOps, working closely with global and local data scientists, product teams, and IT stakeholders.

In this role you will have the opportunity to work on development to production within a complex and regulated enterprise environment.

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support the design, evolution, and continuous improvement of the AI platform, across development and production environments.
• Collaborate on the integration between data platforms, AI models, and business applications.
• Contribute to scaling and industrializing AI use cases, working with data scientists and global product owners to bring solutions into production.
• Support the implementation of Generative AI solutions and AI agents on enterprise platforms.
• Apply and promote technical best practices regarding security, performance, and compliance within AI systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional AI and IT teams through design sessions, workshops, and knowledge‑sharing activities.

WHO YOU ARE

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Mathematical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related fields.
• Strong interest in Artificial Intelligence, data engineering, and cloud platforms.
• Basic knowledge of Python or similar programming languages;
• Foundational understanding of Machine Learning and Data Engineering concepts.
• Interest or initial exposure to:

• Cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS)
• Containerization (Docker)
• APIs, microservices, and data/AI platform architectures

• Fluent in English (written and spoken) and Italian native speaker
• Proactive mindset, curiosity and ability to learn quickly in a fast‑evolving technical environment
• Comfortable collaborating in cross‑functional and multidisciplinary teams.
• Structured, detail-oriented, and equipped with a problem‑solving mindset.
