At Officeworks we make bigger things happen. Our customers, our team, and our community are our heart and soul. And if our brilliant people have taught us anything, it is that we can do all kinds of incredible things, each and every day.

Fast paced. Innovative. Inspiring. With close to 10,000 team members and a national footprint of more than 173 retail stores Australia wide – we’re focused on delivering a wide range, low price and great service. We’re about inspiring new ideas and thinking outside the box. We’re about kicking goals, having a laugh and pushing each other. We are about being rewarded and supported. We’re about teaching a customer something new and supporting the community. We’re about making a difference.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced AI Integration Engineer to design and build the infrastructure that enables AI-powered solutions to operate within real business environments.

In this hands-on role, you will integrate AI agents into existing systems, pipelines, and tools while developing the full-stack foundations for innovative AI prototypes and products. You’ll work in a small, highly collaborative engineering team, partnering closely with an Agentic AI Engineer and the AI Product Innovation Lead to turn strategic ideas into working solutions.

Your focus will be on building reliable integrations, scalable infrastructure, and intuitive interfaces that allow AI agents to solve complex business problems and deliver measurable value.

What You’ll Do

  • Build full-stack infrastructure for AI prototypes and MVPs, including backend services, APIs, and front-end interfaces.
  • Develop APIs and tools that allow AI agents to interact with internal systems, databases, and external services.
  • Implement agent orchestration and communication between multiple AI agents using modern agent architectures.
  • Design integration layers that connect AI capabilities with business systems and user interfaces.
  • Ensure solutions are reliable, scalable, and secure with a clear pathway from prototype to production.
  • Collaborate closely with the Agentic AI Engineer to deliver end-to-end AI solutions.
  • Debug, optimise, and evolve prototypes into stable MVPs and scalable systems.

About you

You are a hands-on engineer and strong problem solver who enjoys building practical systems that connect advanced technologies with real-world business challenges. You thrive in fast-paced environments where experimentation and rapid iteration are part of the process.

To succeed in this role, you will also bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • Engineering experience with strong full-stack development skills
  • Strong Python experience plus JavaScript or TypeScript
  • Experience building APIs and integrating systems
  • Experience with relational and non-relational databases (Snowflake highly regarded)
  • Experience with modern front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud
  • Exposure to AI-enabled systems or data engineering is highly regarded
  • Startup or innovation environment experience is a plus.
