AI Governance Officer
We are looking for an AI Governance Officer to operationalize and maintain a robust, ethical, and compliant AI governance framework aligned with the EU AI Act. The role acts as the central coordination point between business units, risk, legal, and data stakeholders to ensure effective governance of AI and GenAI systems across the organization.
A prior governance framework has already been defined, including AI definitions, initial compliance assessment questionnaires, updated AI/GenAI guidelines, role definitions, and a target operating model. This role focuses on turning that framework into a fully operational, embedded governance practice.
Key Responsibilities
1. AI Governance Operations
Implement and maintain an operational AI governance framework across the organization
Design practical, actionable governance processes and ensure their adoption
Continuously improve governance practices based on regulatory, risk, and business needs
2. Regulatory Compliance & Framework Alignment
Ensure alignment with the EU AI Act and related regulatory requirements
Translate legal and risk requirements into operational governance controls
Collaborate with Legal and Risk teams on interpretation and implementation
Establish and maintain an AI inventory and lifecycle management processes
3. Stakeholder Coordination
Act as central coordination point for AI governance activities
Facilitate collaboration between Business Units, Risk, Legal, Data Office, and external partners
Ensure consistent communication and alignment across stakeholders
4. Awareness & Training
Drive awareness of AI governance and EU AI Act requirements
Support training and capability building across business and technical teams
Promote a culture of responsible and compliant AI usage
Required Skills
Strong understanding of the EU AI Act and AI/GenAI governance (preferably in insurance context)
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills up to executive level
Analytical mindset with strong structuring and documentation abilities
Ability to simplify complex regulatory and technical topics
Experience in cross-functional coordination without hierarchical authority
Balance between regulatory compliance and business pragmatism
Basic knowledge of data governance and risk management
Languages
French: Native or bilingual proficiency
English: Professional proficiency
Dutch: Limited working proficiency
