WorkNomads is on the hunt for an AI Engineer to join our team!

Your mission at WorkNomads:

• You'll own the real-time voice and language layer that makes Brain Buddy feel like a responsive, trustworthy companion rather than a chatbot with a lag.
• Design, train, and fine-tune TTS and STT models that power real-time conversational interaction across multiple tools and systems, relevant to health-tech.
• Adapt commercial speech and foundation models into low-latency, production-grade pipelines suited to live, back-and-forth user sessions.
• Improve model accuracy, latency, robustness, and scalability under real usage load
• Fine-tune and evaluate models against own interaction data
• Build evaluation methodologies specific to conversational and speech quality
• Investigate and resolve inference bottlenecks as usage scales — including planning for the cost/performance inflection points we're tracking
• Collaborate directly with the product, data annotation, and infrastructure pods to take models from prototype to production deployment.

Requirements

We want to hear from you if you have:

• 10+ years in product development, with substantial hands-on ML engineering experience and AI foundation models
• Proven experience training, fine-tuning, or optimizing TTS and/or STT models
• Experience adapting commercial speech or foundation models for production use cases.
• Strong grounding in low-latency inference architecture for live interaction systems.
• Fluency with modern ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of cloud deployment architectures and optimization for multi real-time systems
• Experience with large-scale data and distributed computing environments.
• Excellent written and spoken English; able to work independently in a fast-moving, technically ambiguous environment.
• Bachelor's/Master's/PhD in Computer Science, AI/ML, Mathematics
• Willingness to travel to Bulgaria ~20% of working time
