AI Engineer / Generative AI Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced AI Engineer with strong expertise in Generative AI, Machine Learning, and Azure Cloud technologies to join an innovative technology team in Amsterdam.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing, developing, and deploying AI-driven solutions, with particular focus on Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and enterprise-scale AI architectures. This role requires hands-on development skills as well as the ability to design scalable, secure, and high-performance AI solutions within Azure environments.

Fluent Dutch language skills are mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop AI and Generative AI solutions for enterprise applications.
• Architect scalable, secure, and high-performance AI platforms and services on Microsoft Azure.
• Build and optimize solutions leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering techniques, embeddings, and RAG architectures.
• Develop and maintain Python-based AI and machine learning applications.
• Integrate AI services with enterprise systems through REST APIs and microservices architectures.
• Implement and manage model lifecycle processes, including deployment, monitoring, and performance optimization.
• Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver AI-driven solutions.
• Ensure compliance with security, governance, and data privacy requirements.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and recommend best practices for enterprise adoption.
• Troubleshoot and optimize AI workloads to ensure reliability, scalability, and performance.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong experience in Python programming.
• Hands-on experience with AI/ML and Generative AI technologies.
• Proven experience designing scalable AI architectures and enterprise AI solutions.
• Expertise with:
  • Large Language Models (LLMs)
  • Prompt Engineering
  • Embeddings
  • Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
• Strong experience with Microsoft Azure services, including:
  • Azure Machine Learning
  • Azure OpenAI
  • Azure Functions
  • Azure App Services
• Experience building and consuming REST APIs and microservices.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and data processing libraries such as Pandas and NumPy.
• Experience with AI model deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
• Understanding of data security, governance, and compliance requirements.
• Fluent Dutch language skills (mandatory).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience delivering AI solutions within large enterprise environments.
• Familiarity with MLOps practices and AI governance frameworks.
• Experience with cloud-native architecture and distributed systems.
• Knowledge of modern AI security and responsible AI practices.
• Azure certifications related to AI, Data, or Cloud Architecture are advantageous.
