As the AI Software Engineer (f/m/d) in the team, you will be primarily responsible for the design and development of full-stack Generative AI (GenAI) and Machine Learning (ML) applications for selected use cases in the Asset Management space. This role works closely with domain experts to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements for development.

By leveraging Generative AI, you take an active role in driving the development of innovative solutions and providing technical guidance to the development team where necessary. Being a member of a central AI team in collaboration with other engineers & architects, you will contribute to the development of prototypes to assess technology readiness and suitability for specific applications, and ultimately deliver to the scaling of the most promising prototypes into production-ready applications and platforms.

This role will be based in Frankfurt or Munich.

What you will do

• Development of full-stack solutions for GenAI/ML applications, integrating both frontend and backend components to deliver robust and scalable solutions, and ensuring company policies/procedures are adhered to for AI solutions the team manages
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate these into technical requirements for application development
• Ideation and development of solutions and co-creation with development teams to transition prototypes into production where viable
• Research and share the latest industry trends and technologies to help foster AllianzGI relevant innovation and business transformation

What you bring

Education:

• University degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Machine Learning, Data Science or related fields

Experience:

• A minimum of three years’ experience in full stack application development is required
• Ideally industry experience in Investment Banking/Asset Management
• A minimum of two years’ industry experience in GenAI and ML based App development
• A minimum of three years’ experience working with agile teams, required

Knowledge & Hardskills:

• Proficiency in Python, including experience with libraries and frameworks relevant to ML and GenAI application development (e.g., LangChain, FastAPI, Semantic Kernel, and AutoGen)
• Detailed understanding and hands-on experience with large language models (LLMs), AI agents, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architecture, embedding techniques, prompt engineering, fine-tuning, Model Context Protocol (MCPs), LLMOps, MLOps, vibecoding, and reinforcement learning
• Experience with modern web development frameworks and languages, including React, TypeScript, and Node.js, with a background in building and maintaining both front-end and back-end applications
• Experienced working with production-grade vector databases (e.g., Azure AI Search, MongoDB, Cosmos DB, pgvector, Chroma, or Milvus) for efficient storage and retrieval of embeddings
• Ideally experienced with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and Cloud native services in Azure
• Experience with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
• Experience with Agile development and DevOps practices using tools such as Harness, GitHub, JFrog, Jira, and Datadog
• Ability to create unit tests, integration tests using common testing frameworks (e.g., pytest, Playwright)
• Ideally knowledge and strong understanding of component-based architecture, state management and intuitive UX design principles

Softskills:

• Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels, coupled with excellent English communication
• (Ability to translate and drive conceptual ideas to technical requirements for application development)
• (Strong analytical skills, and a creative mindset to effectively define problems and explore solutions
• Ability to understand technical problems presented by non-technical users and communicate technical solutions in a clear, non-technical manner
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with a strong customer-service focus
• Strong organizational skills to manage time efficiently, prioritize tasks, and meet multiple deadlines
