About your team

Asset Management Platforms (AMP) is responsible for the design, engineering and delivery of technology solutions that support Fidelity's global Asset Management business. We partner with Investment Management, Asset Management Operations and Distribution teams across Europe and Asia to deliver modern platforms that enable investment professionals to make better investment decisions and improve client outcomes.

About your role

The AI Engineer is a senior technical leader responsible for defining and delivering AI-enabled software engineering capabilities across Asset Management Platforms (AMP). The role combines enterprise AI strategy, software engineering leadership, and practical adoption of AI-assisted development to improve productivity, quality, and speed of delivery while maintaining Fidelity's standards for architecture, security, governance, and software quality.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape how AI is adopted across Asset Management Platforms, helping engineering teams deliver high-quality software faster while ensuring solutions remain secure, maintainable and aligned with Fidelity's engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

AI Strategy & Platform Leadership

  • Define the technical vision, architecture, and operating model for AI-enabled engineering across AMP.
  • Establish enterprise standards, reference architectures, and governance frameworks for AI, Generative AI, AI agents, and AI-assisted software development.
  • Lead decisions relating to model strategy, orchestration, retrieval architecture, and multi-model AI adoption.
  • Evaluate emerging AI technologies and identify opportunities to create business and engineering value.

AI Engineering Enablement

  • Drive adoption of AI-assisted software engineering practices across development teams.
  • Develop reusable patterns, workflows, prompts, and accelerators.
  • Coach engineers in the effective use of tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and other AI development assistants.
  • Establish standards for AI-generated code, quality assurance, security, and responsible AI usage.

Software Engineering & Architecture

  • Design and deliver modern, scalable software solutions supporting Fidelity's investment platforms.
  • Champion engineering best practices across architecture, development, testing, CI/CD, DevSecOps, observability, and automation.
  • Support technical design decisions and guide teams through complex engineering challenges.
  • Contribute to engineering strategy, roadmaps, and architecture governance.

Stakeholder Leadership

  • Partner with Engineering Leads, Architects, Product Owners, and business stakeholders to identify opportunities for AI-driven improvement.
  • Build communities of practice and promote knowledge sharing across engineering teams.
  • Communicate AI strategy and engineering outcomes to technical and business audiences.

About you

We're looking for an experienced software engineer who has designed and delivered production Generative AI/LLM solutions.

Essential Experience

  • Experience in software engineering, architecture, or technical leadership roles.
  • Proven track record delivering enterprise-scale software solutions and leading engineering transformation initiatives.
  • Strong experience with Agile delivery, CI/CD, DevSecOps, engineering governance, and secure software development.
  • Hands-on experience with AI engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of RAG, retrieval, embeddings/vector search, agents and agentic workflows, MCP/tool integration, prompt/context engineering, model orchestration and AI evaluation.
  • Strong software engineering background across modern programming languages, cloud platforms, APIs, containers, automation, and observability.
  • Ability to balance innovation with risk management, governance, and regulatory requirements.

Experience within Asset Management, Investment Management, or Financial Services environments is preferred.

Technical Skills

Experience with many of the following technologies and practices:

  • Java, Python, C#, TypeScript or similar modern programming languages
  • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP)
  • Containerisation technologies including Docker and Kubernetes
  • Git-based source control and collaborative development workflows
  • REST APIs and event-driven architectures
  • CI/CD tooling
  • Test automation frameworks
  • Infrastructure as Code
  • Observability and monitoring platforms
  • Enterprise architecture principles
