You’ll work with a skilled team of data scientists and engineers, playing a key role in the Chief Information Security Office’s GenAI portfolio and helping secure innovation at scale.
To be successful as an AI Engineer you should have:
Good understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and modern AI frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, MCP, with experience developing AI-powered applications.
Experience working with vector databases, semantic search, and retrieval optimisation techniques, along with an understanding of context management.
Experience supporting the evaluation, testing, and monitoring of AI agents and automated workflows, including benchmarking and observability in production environments.
Strong knowledge of cloud platforms, including AWS and Azure.
Experience of working with containerisation technologies (docker, Kubernetes etc.)
Strong programming and scripting skills, particularly in Python and Bash together with use of AI assisted coding tools such as claude code.

Key Responsibilities
Over the next 18 months, the successful candidate will contribute to the following areas:
Contribute to the design and development of innovative AI-powered cybersecurity solutions and capabilities.
Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices within AI/ML.
Produce high-quality technical documentation, implementation guides, and user-facing materials.
You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen strategic thinking and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.
This role can be based in Manchester, Knutsford, Northampton, Glasgow or London
