Job Description

Carlton Football Club has made a deliberate and significant investment in AI, with a genuine appetite for innovation from the top down, and the returns are already visible across the Club. Working closely with the GM of Data, Technology and AI, the AI Enablement Lead will be responsible for driving adoption and education across every part of the Club. This newly created role is one of the first of its kind in Australian sport, and provides an opportunity to play a highly influential role in the transformation of an elite sporting organisation.

The role is ultimately about people, and is best suited to someone who genuinely loves helping others learn. The focus is on identifying where AI can improve how staff work, removing the barriers that stop adoption, and building the skills and confidence of the Club to embrace it responsibly.

Looking further ahead, the Club is ambitious about what AI can do. From agentic workflows to organisation-wide transformation, the roadmap beyond the first 12 months is compelling, and this role is where that journey begins.

Education and Adoption

  • Design and lead Carlton's AI learning program across all departments, structured workshops, regular training sessions, and drop-in support tailored to staff at every level
  • Build and maintain a thriving internal AI community, keeping staff informed, inspired, and connected to what others are building and learning across the Club
  • Manage and enable Carlton's AI champions network, ensuring champions across every department feel supported, capable, and are producing output with visible business impact
  • Own and run Carlton's AI adoption tracking program, surfacing patterns in usage, identifying blockers, and ensuring every insight leads to a closed-out action
  • Support all users across the Club, paid and free, ensuring no one is left behind regardless of which tools they have access to

Building

  • Develop and maintain Carlton's AI playbook and internal resources, keeping them current and genuinely useful as the Club's primary reference for AI at work
  • Build prompt libraries, AI-powered workflows, and lightweight tools that solve real problems across the business, with a focus on outcomes that have clear business value
  • Work closely with the Data and Technology teams to identify AI integration opportunities, including tools with AI capabilities built in, connectors, and workflow solutions

Exploration

  • Continuously scan the AI market for emerging tools, platforms, and techniques, evaluating what is worth adopting and bringing clear recommendations back to the team
  • Identify common themes and recurring gaps in how staff work, and explore whether agentic workflows or AI-driven solutions could address them at scale
  • Prototype and test new AI approaches, including agentic solutions, that could meaningfully change how the Club operates, keeping Carlton ahead of the curve as the technology matures

Governance

  • Embed safe and responsible AI use at the core of all education, training materials, and resources delivered to staff
  • Own Carlton's AI Use Policy as a living document and maintain governance guides that ensure AI is used responsibly and in line with the Club's values

AI Strategy and Leadership

  • Deliver regular AI adoption reporting to the executive leadership team and contribute ground-level insight to Carlton's broader AI strategy and roadmap
  • Track the AI landscape, flagging relevant emerging tools, opportunities, and risks to senior leadership on an ongoing basis

Who We Are Looking For

You might have come from education, change management, consulting, tech enablement, or somewhere else entirely. What matters is that you can bring people on a journey with AI, and you have the hands-on experience to back it up.

You will be a strong fit if you

  • Have hands-on experience building with AI, including workflows and automations in a real organisational context
  • Are highly proficient with Claude or other reputable AI tools, and are always exploring what else is emerging in the market
  • Have designed and delivered training or capability programs for technology or AI adoption
  • Can translate a business problem into a practical, outcomes-focused AI solution
  • Communicate clearly with people at every level, from frontline staff to executives
  • Have genuine intellectual curiosity about AI and a bias toward doing over theorising
  • Are comfortable in an environment where not everything is defined yet, and see that as an opportunity
  • Have an interest in Australian Rules Football or experience working in an elite sporting organisation, preferred but not essential

Culture & Benefits

Working at Carlton means being part of something bigger than the day job. You'll be supported through flexible working, learning and development opportunities, and a range of benefits
including Club membership, café, retail and partner discounts - all from one of
    Australia's most iconic sporting venues.

How to Apply

Please submit your application including your resume and cover letter by Monday 3 August 2026, noting applicants may be contacted sooner.

The Carlton Football Club is an equal opportunity employer and a place who welcomes
