Job Description

Team Red Dog is hiring an AI Data Engineer – Power Platform & Automation for our client, a global technology leader and intelligent cloud innovator. This remote role will modernize Azure hardware planning and portfolio reporting by integrating enterprise data sources, developing AI-powered automation solutions, and transforming manual reporting processes into dynamic Power BI dashboards. You will leverage Microsoft Power Platform, Azure DevOps, SharePoint, and generative AI technologies to streamline workflows, improve data accuracy, and deliver actionable business intelligence. This is an opportunity to apply AI and data engineering expertise to high-impact initiatives supporting one of the world's largest cloud computing environments.

Top Required Skills (Must Haves):

  1. Data Engineering & Business Intelligence: 4+ years of experience in data engineering, business intelligence, or analytics automation, including integrating data from multiple enterprise systems and developing scalable reporting solutions.
  2. Generative AI & Workflow Automation: 2+ years of experience developing and implementing production generative AI solutions using tools such as Copilot Studio, Azure OpenAI, AI Builder, or Microsoft 365 Copilot. Must demonstrate measurable improvements in workflow efficiency or operational processes.
  3. Microsoft Power Platform & Power BI: Advanced proficiency with Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, DAX, Power Query, data modeling, automated refresh, and dashboard development.
  4. Enterprise Data Integration: Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, SharePoint Online, Excel, SQL, Python, REST APIs, and integrating data across multiple platforms to support automated reporting and analytics.

Opportunity Overview:

Join a team focused on transforming how Azure hardware roadmap and portfolio data is managed, analyzed, and communicated across the organization. You'll have the opportunity to replace time-consuming manual processes with intelligent automation, create centralized data solutions, and develop interactive Power BI dashboards that provide real-time visibility into critical business operations.

This role offers meaningful exposure to Azure hardware planning and enterprise cloud operations while providing the autonomy to identify opportunities, design solutions, and demonstrate the measurable impact of AI-driven improvements. Your work will directly influence reporting efficiency, data quality, and decision-making across multiple teams.

How you will make an impact:

  • Evaluate existing business workflows, identify manual processes, and prioritize opportunities for AI-driven automation and operational improvements.
  • Design and implement AI-powered solutions that streamline data aggregation, reconciliation, reporting, and workflow management.
  • Integrate data from SharePoint, Azure DevOps (ADO), Excel, and cross-organizational databases into a governed, centralized source of truth.
  • Build, enhance, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards that replace manual spreadsheets and presentation-based reporting.
  • Develop automated data refresh processes, validation checks, and data-quality monitoring to ensure accurate, reliable reporting.
  • Implement generative AI use cases, including automated change summaries, natural-language data queries, data reconciliation, and reporting automation.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot existing Power BI dashboards while improving performance, usability, and data accessibility.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate reporting requirements and operational challenges into scalable technical solutions.
  • Document technical solutions, provide user training, and support adoption of new AI and automation capabilities.
  • Measure and communicate improvements through metrics such as hours saved, reduced reporting cycle times, and increased data accuracy.

The expertise you bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in data engineering, business intelligence, analytics automation, or related disciplines.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience developing production generative AI solutions using Copilot Studio, Azure OpenAI, AI Builder, Microsoft 365 Copilot, or similar technologies.
  • Advanced Power BI expertise, including data modeling, DAX, Power Query (M), automated refresh, deployment, and row-level security.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps and Power Automate.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps queries, Analytics/OData, REST APIs, SharePoint Online, and advanced Excel.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python for data manipulation, integration, and workflow automation.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate and reconcile data across multiple enterprise platforms and systems.
  • Experience translating complex business requirements into technical solutions and executive-ready dashboards.
  • Strong communication, analytical thinking, troubleshooting, and stakeholder collaboration skills.
  • Preferred experience with Azure hardware, supply chain, product roadmaps, or portfolio management data.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Dataverse, KQL, Power Platform application lifecycle management (ALM), or Git is a plus.
  • Microsoft certifications in Power BI, Fabric, Power Platform, or Azure AI are advantageous.
  • Previous experience working within Microsoft's enterprise technology environment is preferred.

What makes a candidate highly successful in this role:

Successful candidates bring more than technical proficiency in Power BI and Microsoft Power Platform. They have a demonstrated track record of applying generative AI and automation to solve real business challenges, eliminate manual processes, and improve operational efficiency within enterprise environments.

The ideal candidate combines strong data engineering and business intelligence capabilities with hands-on experience implementing AI solutions that deliver measurable results. They are comfortable aggregating complex data across multiple platforms, building intuitive dashboards, and independently identifying opportunities to improve existing workflows.

Experience with Azure DevOps, SharePoint, Power Apps, and Microsoft enterprise systems will be particularly valuable. Candidates should be able to clearly explain the business impact of their solutions and demonstrate how their technical work improved efficiency, reporting accuracy, or decision-making.

During the interview, candidates must be prepared to provide a live demonstration of a previous project where they successfully implemented AI to optimize a workflow or improve operational efficiency. Demonstrations must exclude all confidential, proprietary, or customer-related information.
