AI Business Analyst, Dover Corporation

Objectives of This Role

  • Assist in translating business problems into clearly defined requirements that guide data science, engineering, and product teams toward impactful AI-driven outcomes.
  • Help bridge the gap between technical AI/ML teams and business stakeholders by gathering, documenting, and communicating requirements, insights, and project status.
  • Contribute to customer-centric, data-driven culture by analyzing usage patterns, tracking key metrics, and surfacing opportunities for continuous improvement of AI products and features.

Responsibilities

  • Gather, document, and validate business and functional requirements for AI/ML initiatives by conducting stakeholder interviews, workshops, and process walkthroughs across Dover's operating companies.
  • Assist in maintaining and prioritizing the AI product backlog, ensuring user stories and acceptance criteria are clearly defined and aligned with business objectives.
  • Analyze datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform AI/ML model development, feature prioritization, and business decision-making.
  • Create and maintain documentation including business requirements documents (BRDs), process flows, data dictionaries, and user journey maps specific to AI-powered solutions.
  • Support user acceptance testing (UAT) for AI/ML products and features — developing test cases, coordinating testing activities, and documenting results and defects.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, contributing to backlog refinement and sprint documentation.
  • Assist with go-to-market and change management activities for AI product rollouts, including user onboarding materials, training guides, and feedback collection.
  • Research AI/ML market trends, competitive offerings, and emerging technologies to support product strategy and roadmap planning.
  • Coordinate across cross-functional teams — including data scientists, ML engineers, software developers, designers, and business leaders — to ensure alignment and remove communication barriers.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, computer science, data science, information systems, or a related discipline.
  • 0–2 years of professional experience in business analysis, data analytics, or a related role; internship or co-op experience in an AI/ML, analytics, or technology-focused environment is valued.
  • Foundational understanding of AI/ML concepts (e.g., predictive modeling, natural language processing, computer vision, recommendation systems) and how they apply to business problems.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to interpret data, identify patterns, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly present technical concepts and analysis to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience working in or supporting cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a passion for learning about artificial intelligence, machine learning, and their real-world business applications.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Master's degree (MBA or technical master's) with a focus on analytics, data science, AI, or a related discipline.
  • Familiarity with data platforms, cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), or ML workflow tools (e.g., MLflow, SageMaker).
  • Domain interest or experience in manufacturing, industrial technology, or B2B environments — particularly in areas such as predictive maintenance, quality analytics, demand forecasting, or aftermarket/service optimization.
  • Awareness of responsible AI practices, including data privacy, bias mitigation, and ethical considerations in AI product development.
  • Experience supporting products or projects in a multi-business-unit or decentralized enterprise environment.
  • Prior internship, academic project, or coursework involving AI/ML model development, data pipeline design, or analytics product delivery.
