Job Description & Summary

Kia ora,

Be a catalyst for transformation. Shape the future at PwC New Zealand.

At PwC, our purpose is clear: to build trust in society and solve important problems.

This is a place to keep growing. You’ll learn from the best, take on meaningful challenges, and make a lasting impact for our clients, our communities, and Aotearoa.

Ngā kōrero mo tēnei tūranga / About the role

AI is moving quickly into everyday business. We help organisations turn it into practical value by building leadership understanding, workforce capability, high-value use cases, and better ways of working.

We are looking for a Manager or Senior Manager to join our growing AI Adoption & Transformation team in Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland.

This is a business-focused, client-facing role for an experienced professional with a genuine passion for AI and how it can improve work.

Starting with the business need, we help leaders shape practical AI strategies and guardrails, build workforce capability, and redesign workflows.

You do not need to be a software developer or AI engineer. We are looking for professional services and knowledge-work experience, combined with strong practical AI capability.

Your day-to-day could include

  • Facilitate Executive Education sessions for boards and senior leaders, translating complex AI developments into practical business language.
  • Lead hands-on AI upskilling sessions using tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot and other enterprise AI platforms.
  • Identify high-value AI opportunities across finance, accounting, tax, legal, risk, operations and other knowledge-intensive work.
  • Facilitate AI strategy and Responsible AI workshops to set priorities, practical guardrails and an achievable adoption pathway.
  • Help clients progress from prompting to research tools, custom assistants, agents, and repeatable AI-enabled workflows.
  • Redesign workflows with client teams around the best combination of people and AI.
  • Help clients design and test human-led AI assistants and agents with appropriate controls, review and judgement.
  • Stay current on AI developments and translate what matters into practical client advice.
  • Develop reusable methods, examples and training materials, while coaching junior team members and building wider PwC capability.

Ngā pūkenga ka kawea mai e koe, ka whakawhanakehia rānei i tēnei tūranga / Skills you will bring or develop in this role

We are looking for someone who combines professional services experience, strong client skills and genuine enthusiasm for technology.

  • Experience at, or readiness to operate at, Manager or Senior Manager level, owning engagements and trusted client relationships.
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills, with confidence working from practitioners through to executives and boards.
  • The ability to explain complex ideas simply without losing substance.
  • A genuine passion for technology and helping others use it effectively.
  • Regular practical use of AI tools, with examples of how they have changed the way you work.
  • Strong commercial judgement to distinguish interesting demonstrations from solutions that will improve a client's business.
  • Curiosity about how organisations work and the ability to understand new processes, professions, and industries quickly.
  • A practical understanding of AI risks and limitations, including privacy, security, verification, appropriate reliance, and human oversight.
  • A willingness to keep learning and stay current as AI evolves.

Experience building AI assistants or agents, using advanced AI features or supporting technology adoption is advantageous, but deep technical or software development expertise is not required.

What matters most is your ability to understand the business problem, work effectively with people and clients, and apply technology intelligently.

What will make someone particularly successful in this role?

You will probably enjoy this role if you:

  • Already experiment with AI and show colleagues what is possible.
  • Enjoy helping others have an AI ‘lightbulb moment’.
  • Enjoy client work and establish credibility quickly.
  • Are comfortable working without a perfect playbook.
  • Start with business outcomes and people, not technology.
  • Balance enthusiasm for AI with sound judgement about its limitations.
  • Turn ideas into practical solutions people can use immediately.

Why this role is different

PwC New Zealand has been an early AI adopter, working through the same questions our clients face: technology choices, risk, workforce capability and measurable value.

Our team supports the full adoption journey, from executive education and strategy to upskilling, agents, workflow redesign and advanced AI-enabled solutions.

You will work directly with organisations tackling these issues while building expertise in an area reshaping professional and knowledge-based work.
