Job Description

Job Title: Agricultural Systems Technician II

Location: Sioux Center, IA

Job Type: Full-Time Night Shift

As an Agricultural Systems Technician II, you will assist in the maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical, and conveying systems in our poultry production plant. You will perform routine maintenance tasks, basic troubleshooting, and repairs under supervision, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of our operations.

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform routine maintenance on agricultural/industrial machinery following established procedures and schedules
  • Assist in diagnosing common mechanical and electrical issues
  • Conduct basic repairs on equipment components, including belts, motors, and gearboxes
  • Perform regular inspections and maintenance checks on housing systems, including ventilation, water, feed, egg, and manure equipment
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of conveyor systems
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment status
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe
  • Operate basic equipment such as forklifts and man-lifts under supervision
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures, reporting any concerns to supervisors
  • Assist senior technicians with more complex repairs and maintenance tasks
  • Work collaboratively with team members and other departments
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in industrial, commercial, or facility systems maintenance
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively
  • Basic troubleshooting skills * Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Good communication skills * Attention to detail and commitment to safety

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • Additional trade or technical school education for maintenance, mechanical, welding, or electrical
  • Maintenance experience in the poultry or agriculture industry

Work Environment

This position requires the physical ability to lift, carry, push, or pull weights of 75+ lbs. and to work in various climate conditions, including extreme heat and cold. The role demands the capacity to walk, climb, stand, and sit for extended periods, as well as work at heights up to 75' and in confined spaces. The job is set in a poultry production plant environment, which may involve exposure to animals and confined areas. Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required is essential for this position.
