Job Description

3. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Business, Agricultural Economics and/or Financial Inclusion.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in agriculture/finance or project management in banking/agriculture sector required
  • Knowledge of project management techniques and tools
  • Experience with agri SMEs and keen understanding of financial inclusion as a catalyst for economic growth and job creation
  • Knowledge of current trends and innovations in agri-finance for value chains, agri SMEs and smallholder farmers
  • Proven experience in project management
  • Proven experience in strategic planning and risk management
  • Proven experience in people management
  • Excellent presentation and listening skills with ability to communicate learnings effectively to internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficiency in computer applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Access)
  • Ability to self-organize and think both structurally and innovatively
  • Good problem-solving and interpersonal skills
  • Hardworking with strong analytical skills and a can-do spirit

4. KEY RESULT AREAS

Project Management

  • Develop strategies to boost lending to SMEs in agriculture and adjacent sectors for job creation especially for the youth and women
  • Create and execute work plans and revise as appropriate to meet evolving project needs and requirements
  • Ensure quality assurance and high-performance standards in project execution
  • Provide technical expertise and best practices to address systemic and market challenges faced by SMEs
  • Communicate project progress and distill learnings to stakeholders via periodic reports, research and other required documentation
  • Manage day-to-day project operations and scope including budgeting, work plan activities and field visits
  • Identify resources needed and assign individual responsibilities
  • Enforce strict risk management to minimize Bank’s exposure and project risks
  • Ensure project documents are complete, current and stored appropriately

Project Accounting

  • Track and report team hours and expenses on a weekly basis.
  • Manage project budgeting and accounting
  • Determine appropriate revenue recognition, ensure timely and accurate invoicing, and monitor receivables
  • Follow-up with clients as and when necessary regarding unpaid invoices
  • Perform other duties as assigned
