We are looking for an experienced and strategic AGM – Purchase to lead procurement and purchase management operations for a large-scale manufacturing environment. This role requires a seasoned professional with strong expertise in vendor management, procurement planning, commercial negotiations, and supply chain coordination, preferably within transformer, electrical equipment, or industrial manufacturing domains.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving cost-effective procurement strategies, ensuring uninterrupted material availability, strengthening vendor relationships, and improving procurement efficiency across operations. This role demands a strong commercial mindset, leadership capability, and deep understanding of industrial purchasing processes.

The position is best suited for professionals who can manage large procurement volumes, optimize sourcing strategies, and contribute directly to operational and business growth.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end purchase and procurement operations for raw materials, components, consumables, and engineering items
• Develop and implement strategic procurement plans aligned with business and production requirements
• Manage vendor sourcing, evaluation, negotiations, onboarding, and performance monitoring
• Drive cost optimization initiatives through strategic sourcing and commercial negotiations
• Ensure timely procurement and uninterrupted supply of materials to support manufacturing schedules
• Build strong relationships with suppliers, contractors, and strategic partners
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production, planning, and stores teams for demand forecasting
• Handle procurement contracts, purchase orders, compliance documentation, and payment coordination
• Evaluate market trends, pricing movements, and supply chain risks to support proactive decision-making
• Ensure adherence to procurement policies, quality standards, and operational compliance requirements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, finance, quality, and logistics for smooth execution
• Lead and mentor procurement teams while driving process improvements and operational excellence
• Track procurement KPIs, vendor performance metrics, and cost-saving initiatives through structured reporting

What Makes You a Great Fit

• 17+ years of experience in purchase management, procurement, or supply chain functions
• Strong expertise in industrial procurement, vendor development, and strategic sourcing
• Experience in transformer, electrical equipment, heavy engineering, or manufacturing industries is highly preferred
• Strong understanding of procurement planning, inventory control, and material management processes
• Excellent commercial acumen with proven negotiation and cost optimization capabilities
• Ability to manage large vendor networks and high-value procurement operations efficiently
• Strong leadership and team management experience with the ability to drive accountability and performance
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Good understanding of contract management, procurement compliance, and supplier agreements
• Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities
• Ability to work in fast-paced manufacturing environments with strong operational ownership
• Proficiency in ERP systems, procurement tools, and reporting platforms is an advantage
