Your future role

Step into a high-impact role where business development, stakeholder engagement, and infrastructure growth come together.

You will play a key role in expanding Xylem’s presence across municipal and industrial water & wastewater projects by building strong relationships with government authorities, consultants, contractors, utilities, and key ecosystem partners.

Working closely with sales, application engineering, proposal, and leadership teams, you will:

  • Drive strategic business development initiatives across the Water & Wastewater segment
  • Strengthen engagement with Government Bodies, Municipal Corporations, and Infrastructure Authorities
  • Identify upcoming opportunities, influence project pipelines, and support business expansion
  • Build long-term customer relationships while driving sustainable business growth

This role is not just about sales execution - it’s about building market presence, creating strategic influence, and enabling long-term business success.

What you’ll be doing

You will play a critical role across multiple dimensions:

🌍 Strategic Business Development

  • Study of state budgets for water and waste water, identify projects , design the prequalification criteria and get connected with End-user and consultants.
  • Deploy Xylem products and specifications .
  • Develop strategic growth plans aligned with regional business objectives and market opportunities
  • Track upcoming projects, tenders, infrastructure investments, and policy developments within the water sector
  • Strengthen market positioning through proactive customer engagement and business expansion initiatives

🤝 Government Liaising & Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Government Departments, Municipal Corporations, Consultants, EPC Contractors, Utilities, and Regulatory Bodies
  • Engage with decision-makers and influencers to support business opportunities and project development
  • Represent Xylem in industry forums, customer meetings, exhibitions, and strategic discussions
  • Support pre-tender engagement, approvals, and coordination activities with key stakeholders

📈 Sales Enablement & Commercial Support

  • Collaborate with sales, technical, and proposal teams to develop customer-focused solutions
  • Support techno-commercial discussions, negotiations, and project closure activities
  • Ensure alignment between customer expectations and internal execution capabilities
  • Drive customer satisfaction and long-term relationship management across key accounts

⚙️ Market Intelligence & Growth Strategy

  • Monitor competitor activities, market trends, government initiatives, and infrastructure developments
  • Provide market insights and strategic recommendations to leadership teams
  • Identify new business models, partnerships, and growth opportunities within the water ecosystem

👥 Collaboration & Cross-functional Alignment

  • Partner closely with internal teams across Sales, Engineering, Proposals, Service, and Operations
  • Ensure seamless coordination between customer requirements and project execution support
  • Contribute to strategic planning, forecasting, and regional business reviews

That said, here’s what will help you succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Civil / Environmental or related field)
  • MBA preferred
  • 10–15 years of experience in Business Development within the Water & Wastewater / Infrastructure industry
  • Strong exposure to Government Liaisoning and Municipal Business Ecosystem
  • Proven experience working with Municipal Corporations, Government Authorities, Consultants, and EPC Contractors
  • Strong understanding of tender-driven and project-based business environments
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrixed and fast-paced business environment
