Agile Scrum Master

The Agile Coach is responsible for driving Agile transformation across medical device software development teams, ensuring that Agile principles, practices, and ways of working are effectively adopted in regulated environments.

The role focuses on enabling cross-functional teams to improve delivery efficiency, product quality, and compliance by embedding Agile methodologies aligned with IEC 62304, design controls, and quality management requirements. Acting as a transformation leader and facilitator, the Agile Coach partners with software development, system engineering, quality, regulatory, and project teams to establish sustainable Agile practices and continuous improvement culture.

In addition, the role leads the adoption of modern engineering approaches, including Harness Engineering and AI-assisted coding practices, to enhance developer productivity, coding quality, and traceability, while ensuring responsible usage aligned with governance, compliance, and product safety expectations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Drive Agile transformation across software development teams, establishing scalable Agile frameworks, practices, and governance aligned with regulated product development.
  • Coach teams, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and leaders on Agile mindset, roles, and best practices to improve collaboration, transparency, and delivery predictability.
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies and continuous improvement activities (e.g., sprint planning, retrospectives, backlog refinement) to enhance team maturity and effectiveness.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders (software, system engineering, QA, RA, clinical, and project management) to align Agile practices with IEC 62304, design control processes, and compliance requirements.
  • Enable teams to balance agility with regulatory rigor, ensuring documentation, traceability, and quality expectations are met within Agile workflows.
  • Identify organizational impediments and drive resolution through structured problem-solving, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Define and track Agile maturity metrics and engineering performance indicators, supporting data-driven decision-making and transformation progress tracking.
  • Lead the adoption of Harness Engineering practices, integrating standardized engineering workflows to improve development efficiency, consistency, and quality.
  • Promote and guide teams in AI-assisted coding practices, including: AI-supported code generation and review, AI-assisted defect analysis and root cause investigation, AI-enhanced productivity and development workflows.
  • Ensure the responsible and compliant use of AI tools, including governance, traceability, cybersecurity, and regulatory considerations.
  • Facilitate collaboration across teams to scale Agile (e.g., multi-team coordination, program-level alignment, release planning).
  • Support leadership in defining transformation roadmaps, operating models, and change management strategies.

Required Qualifications:

Education

Bachelor's / Master's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.

Work Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software development, Agile coaching, or engineering transformation roles
  • Hands-on experience applying Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, or scaled Agile frameworks) in complex product development environments
  • Experience in regulated industries (medical devices preferred) with understanding of IEC 62304 and design control practices is highly desirable
  • Proven experience coaching cross-functional teams and enabling Agile transformation at team and/or organizational level
  • Experience with modern engineering practices such as DevOps, CI/CD, and AI-assisted development approaches (e.g., Harness Engineering) is strongly preferred

Certifications:

Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP), Certified Product Owner, or equivalent system, software development certification is a plus.

Preferred Skills (Technical/Functional Skills):

  • Agile transformation and coaching at team, program, and organizational levels
  • Strong understanding of Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe or equivalents)
  • Experience working in regulated software environments (IEC 62304, quality systems, design controls)
  • Value-driven development, backlog management, and product delivery optimization
  • Organizational change management and stakeholder alignment
  • Facilitation, coaching, and mentoring skills across different roles and seniority levels
  • Metrics-driven improvement (velocity, flow, quality, predictability, etc.)
  • Root cause analysis and continuous improvement practices
  • DevOps mindset and modern engineering practices
  • Harness Engineering and AI-assisted software engineering practices
  • Governance and compliance awareness in AI-assisted development
  • Strong communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills

How we work together
We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week.
Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities.
Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.
