The Aggregate Sales representative is a key cornerstone of the business growth strategy of Knife River Corporation and serves as the primary link between the company and external aggregate customers. By blending sales acumen, technical knowledge, and customer service, this role helps ensure that the right products reach the right projects, contributing to the success of Knife River across the region.

Responsible for sales policies and practices for the Knife River operating companies in the specific geographic market which includes construction materials.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (minimum educational, experience, or other relevant job requirements)

  1. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a related field.
  2. 1-3 years of supervisory experience desired.
  3. Ability to provide and maintain proper licensure, acceptable driving record.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS (preferred requirements i.e. certifications, software use, etc.)

  1. 4 year degree in marketing, business, engineering or construction plus seven years in progressively responsible sales management positions or equivalent experience in a construction or materials based business.

  1. Customer Relations: responsible for programs and processes for the sales force to deploy with current and potential customers. Aggressively pursues and manages ongoing relationships with customers to deliver outstanding products and services. Makes sales contacts with customers on a routine basis.
  2. Sales: forecast and develop annual sales plan; develop pricing structure; work with operations management to determine available inventory; provide sales quotes to both internal and external customers; monitor competitor activity; troubleshoot and problem solve with operations management on any issues that may inhibit sales potential and/or growth. Work with customer and internal QA/QC personnel on any quality issues.
  3. Marketing: develop marketing strategies to differentiate company products and services form the competitors; provide training or informational opportunities for customers to learn more about products and services; monitor customer and market trends and direct and supervise research and development.
  4. Leadership/Management: inform senior management of significant projects or sales opportunities; participate in general management meetings and activities as needed.
  5. Other: work with affiliated companies on projects as needed. Represent the company professionally at trade association meetings and conventions to promote products and services.
  6. Ensure DOT, MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance.
