Job Description

Minimum Qualifications

  • Over 6 months up to 1 year from post high school, work, military, or vocational environment.
  • Reasoning ability equivalent to a level of applying common sense, understanding and carrying out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions.
  • Ability to speak clearly and distinctly.
  • Mathematical ability equivalent to adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing all units of measure including decimal fractions. Compute ratio, rate and percent. (The position may require different actual mathematical applications.)
  • Computer skills required. Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook.

Duties and/or Responsibilities:

  • Assist and/or temporarily assume primary dispatcher duties. May plan route delivery routes. Quotes prices and receives orders for company products. Directs activities of drivers and confers with customers, superintendents, plant production and yard personnel. Scales product, prepares delivery tickets and related shipping documents. Operate scale and ticketing program (APEX). Receives cash payments and enters credit card sales.
  • Communicate effectively (verbal, listening and written) and work with difficult people under high stress situations. Self-motivated, team player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous/respectful of others.
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.)
  • Familiarity with DOT rules and regulations.
  • Frequently working in an environment with: Reaching, Talking and Hearing. Occasionally working in an environment with: Standing, Handling, Data Input by keyboard.
  • While performing daily tasks may be required to lift up to 20# occasionally, up to 10# frequently.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
