We have an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Instrumentation Technician in the Aggregates Division located in Medley, FL. This wage, non-exempt position, will report to the Electrical Maintenance Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair of power and control systems.
  • Troubleshoot & calibrate industrial instrumentation - Instrumentation includes, but is not limited to pressure transmitters, weight-feeders, analog and digital indicators and electromechanical actuators.
  • Preventive maintenance of power, control and instrumentation systems.
  • Participate in installation and commissioning of electrical equipment.
  • Installation, testing and starting of Medium Voltage and low voltage electrical motors, including their starting components.
    • MV - synchronous and induction motors
    • LV - induction and DC motors.
  • Repair and maintain, breakers, transformers, as well as motors and motor starters to include VFDs, Soft Starters, and magnetic contactors.
  • Operate light mobile equipment, such as forklifts, manlifts, and bucket trucks.
  • Maintain equipment safe, clean, and operational/functional.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to speak, read and write the English language.
  • Able to understand and follow oral and written instructions sufficiently to carry out work orders.
  • Ability to read and interpret ladder logic diagrams, logic diagrams, process flow diagrams, electrical schematics and equipment manuals.
  • Solid knowledge of electrical theory.
  • Able to use PCs running Windows operating system.
  • Basic troubleshooting and operation of PLCs and VFDs.
  • Basic understanding of Hydraulics and Pneumatics.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and related safety practices.
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays as required by operational needs.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices used to diagnose equipment problems (by use of computerized test equipment where applicable).
  • Ability to read and understand technical service manuals.
  • Must be able to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
  • Must be able to perform heavy work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally; and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently; and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Required Experience:

  • High school graduate or Technical/Vocational school training
  • 2-5 years equivalent work experience.
  • Experience working with three-phase power, 480 VAC and higher.
  • Must possess basic hand tools used in electrical and mechanical trades
  • Previous technical electrical experience in manufacturing facility is a PLUS.
  • Skilled in use of basic electrical testing and measuring instruments.

Shift

Must be able to work weekends and overtime as necessary. Must be able to work rotating shift as necessary.
