As Vapi continues to scale, we are working with increasingly complex enterprise customers deploying voice agents across mission-critical workflows. We’re hiring a Agent Engineer to partner with customers and internal teams to design and deploy scalable AI agent architectures. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, product, and customer success and is responsible for translating business requirements into technically sound architectures that drive successful enterprise deployments.

Ramp on Vapi’s platform architecture, APIs, and agent capabilities
Shadow customer deployments and technical discovery calls
Learn the technical architecture of current enterprise customer implementations
60 Day
Lead technical discovery with customers and design solution architectures
Build rapid prototypes using AI-assisted development tools
Produce architecture diagrams and technical documentation for customer deployments
90 Day
Own end-to-end technical design for enterprise deployments
Architect complex integrations using APIs, webhooks, and event-driven systems
Partner with engineering and product to identify platform improvements from customer feedback
5+ years in solutions architecture, pre-sales engineering, technical consulting, or similar customer-facing technical roles
Strong ability to translate business requirements into technically sound solutions and communicate effectively with both engineers and executives
Experience owning end-to-end customer engagements and delivering complex technical solutions with measurable outcomes
Comfortable working with enterprise customers ($240K+ ACV) in complex stakeholder environments
Autonomous and self-directed, able to scope, design, and drive solutions independently
Technical Strengths:
Proficiency in agent design and AI-assisted development, including rapid prototyping using tools such as Claude Code, Cowork, or similar developer tooling
Experience designing agentic workflows including tool use, function calling, and multi-step reasoning chains
Strong experience architecting API-first integrations using REST APIs, webhooks, and event-driven systems
Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python or JavaScript
Experience working with conversational AI, voice or telephony platforms, NLP/NLU systems, or LLM-based applications
Bonus:
Experience with SIP or WebRTC
Experience with CPaaS platforms such as Twilio, Vonage, or Genesys
