About the Role

Kowanyama Aboriginal Shire Council is seeking caring and reliable Casual Aged Care Support Workers to join our Aged Care team.

This hands-on role supports the Elders of Kowanyama through the delivery of personal care, meals, social activities, and community support in line with each Elder’s care plan.

You’ll be part of a close-knit team that ensures Elders receive the respect, care, and dignity they deserve.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Elders with personal care, meal preparation, and laundry.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment in the Aged Care Centre.
  • Support cultural and social activities, including outings on country.
  • Transport and escort Elders to appointments or community events as required.
  • Follow workplace health and safety procedures and Aged Care protocols.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Enjoys working with and supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders.
  • Is reliable, patient, and respectful in their approach.
  • Works well in a team and can also follow direction independently.
  • Communicates clearly and maintains confidentiality at all times.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Yellow Card (Queensland Disability Worker Screening Clearance)
  • Aged Care Compliant Police Check.
  • Current “C” Class Driver Licence (if required to operate a vehicle)
