About Us

ADA Australia is a respected, independent, not‑for‑profit organisation advocating for the rights, safety and wellbeing of older people and people with disability across Queensland. For more than 30 years, we’ve delivered high‑quality advocacy, information and education services that empower individuals to understand their rights and make informed decisions.

Our work is grounded in strong governance, ethical practice and a commitment to continuous improvement. Every team member contributes to a culture that values integrity, accountability, respect and person‑centred service.

Our Aged Care Advocacy Services team works alongside older people, their representatives and service providers to ensure rights are upheld, concerns are addressed and people are supported to navigate complex aged care systems with confidence.

About the Opportunity

We’re seeking an Aged Care Advocate to provide information, education, support and representation to older people accessing or seeking aged care services.

We welcome applications from candidates located anywhere across the Sunshine Coast region. This is a home-based role servicing the Sunshine Coast, combining the flexibility of working from home with regular travel throughout the region. The successful candidate will meet with clients, visit residential aged care facilities, and engage with aged care service providers and other stakeholders to support advocacy outcomes and build strong community relationships.

You’ll support individuals to understand their rights, raise concerns and achieve fair outcomes, working with clients, families and providers to navigate the aged care system.

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver high‑quality advocacy to support clients in resolving issues
  • Help clients understand their rights and navigate aged care services
  • Advocate at individual and systemic levels to achieve fair outcomes
  • Facilitate education sessions and build stakeholder relationships
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to quality and compliance

About you

You’re a confident and values‑driven professional who is passionate about social justice and empowering older people to have their voices heard. You thrive in complex environments, build strong relationships and are comfortable advocating for individuals in sensitive situations.

You will bring:

  • Qualifications in human services, social work, behavioural science, community services and/or equivalent experience.
  • Experience supporting or advocating for older people or vulnerable groups.
  • Knowledge of aged care services, legislation and rights‑based frameworks (or the ability to quickly develop this knowledge).
  • Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Sound judgement, problem‑solving capability and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong administrative and computer skills, including experience with client management systems.

Essential requirements

  • Valid Australian Driver’s licence.
  • Current (less than three (3) years old) National Criminal History Certificate.

In return for your hard work, you will receive:

  • Competitive base salary + generous salary packaging options
  • Flexible work arrangements, including working from home and the community
  • Professional development and ongoing learning opportunities
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • A supportive, values‑driven team environment
  • Meaningful work that directly contributes to protecting the rights of older people

To apply

If you’re passionate about advocating for the rights of older people and supporting them to navigate the aged care system, we’d love to hear from you. Please submit your resume outlining your suitability for the position.

Applications close 5:00pm, 28 August 2026, unless filled prior.
