Assignment may include teaching in both didactic, lab and clinical courses using appropriate instructional technologies to ensure that course outcomes are met.

All faculty in the AGACNP program participate collaboratively in the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum.

This role is structured to meet contract-defined work expectations of up to 0.2 FTE, inclusive of teaching classes, attending faculty department meetings, chairing DNP projects, performing clinical site visits, supervising labs/OSCEs as needed to provide quality education to AGACNP/DNP students.

AGACNP faculty will adhere to all School of Nursing policies and procedures.

The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university's missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.

Function/Duties of Position

Clinical Activities ( not assigned administrative, education, or research FTE):

  • Supervises student clinical and/or lab/OSCE experiences or practice based on teaching assignment.

Faculty Activities ( service, scholarship, and research):

  • APP faculty have an expectation of advancement and activities consistent with faculty pursuits standard work.
  • Provides effective didactic instruction based on teaching assignment using appropriate instructional technologies to ensure that course outcomes are met.
  • Participates collaboratively in the development, implementation, and evaluation of course content and delivery.
  • Mentors and guides students.
  • Serves as DNP project chair based on teaching assignment.

Other Activities (not covered above)

  • All APPs are expected to support the clinical, education, and research mission of OHSU through routine clinical care that includes working with students, trainees, and patients participating in research, consistent with their role, scope of practice, and applicable contract and institutional policies.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Successful completion of a Doctoral Degree in Nursing in a recognized APRN specialty (AGAC or AC Nurse Practitioner)

Registrations, Certifications and/or Licenses

  • Current RN and APRN licensure with the Oregon Board of Nursing.
  • Current national certification in the area of specialization.
  • Current BLS and ACLS Certification as indicated for the position.

Experience

  • 2 years of Intensive care unit (ICU) clinical practice experience preferred.
  • 1 year of Intensive care unit (ICU) clinical experience required.
  • Clinical teaching or precepting of APRN students/precepting new hires within last year required.

  • Online teaching experience
  • Expert clinical knowledge including integrating evidence-based practices
  • Pedagogical skills including knowledge and skills in implementing competency-based education
  • Mentoring skills
  • Leadership capabilities
  • Ability to effectively assess clinical judgement and give constructive, effective feedback to students.
  • Must have technology proficiency for evaluating simulation, clinical abilities, and health information systems

Union Representation This position is represented by the Oregon Nurses Association - Advance Practice United (ONA-APU), subject to the active Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
