Job Description

Reporting to the Ag Site Manager, Rosthern, responsibilities for the position include the following:

The Ag Solutions Advisor will provide professional support, product information, agronomic advice and consultations to both farm customers directly and team members. The role will have a balance of both individual sales and agronomic responsibilities within a designated territory as well as providing key resources, support, knowledge and direction to other team members. Areas of service include but are not limited to: sales, agronomic and product support/information/education on all aspects of crop production and crop input products including crop protection, seed and crop nutrition.

  1. Technical Advice, Sales and Leadership:
  • Responsible for managing existing accounts and attracting new customers within a defined sales territory.
  • Provide agronomic knowledge and leadership to growers, team members including crop planning, product recommendations, field scouting and soil / fertility management.
  • Provide support/education/direction/sales directly with farm customers, team members on crop protection products, certified seed, crop nutrition, and custom application.
  • Support key account initiatives within the Saskatoon Coop trade area.
  • Lead with required stakeholders to develop and implement Ag Zone (digital ag platform). Provide required support, coaching with team members and farm customers in all aspects of the digital ag platform include data collection and reporting.
  • Support key marketing initiatives including, but not limited to trial/field days, trade shows, grower meetings, division marketing initiatives.
  • Adhere, supports standard operating procedures and safety protocols.
  1. Coaching and Mentorship:
  • Takes responsibility for training, coaching, providing feedback and assisting in development of other team members. Provides agronomic training for staff responsible for sales and marketing.
  • Support, develop, and implement shorter, longer-term sales strategies.
  • Works with team members to provide direction and product focus on all segments in our portfolio.
  • Support in preparing and submitting product forecasting requirements
  • Training, field trials, product messaging will be key to this role.
  1. External Relationships:
  • Manages strong relationships with internal and external customers, contractors and suppliers on complex queries, issues and transactions. Understand and anticipates short-term, and potentially mid-term, complex customer needs and conducts related needs assessments.
  • Actively maintains up to date knowledge of current industry best practices and trends and communicates relevant information to others.
  • Key liaison with FCL Grow team, Digital Ag, Category managers and Manufacture suppliers
  1. Financial Metrics:
  • Support the Ag Sales Manager, Site Managers in developing and achieving operating budgets and goals.
  • Achieve individual agronomic, sales and profitability goals

Qualifications:

  • Candidates will have their Degree in Agriculture or a related discipline

  • Must have at a minimum 5+ years of relevant progressively responsible experience

  • P. Ag designation or CCA certification is required
