Job Description

Assisting After-School children with various social and inter-personal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist other staff members in the pick-up of children from the local public schools and accompanying them back to the Center
  • Review children’s homework assignments and assist them in completing them correctly
  • Keep accurate records of children’s assignments and progress
  • Inform Director of any concerns (social, academic, etc.) of the students
  • Provide tutoring to students when necessary
  • Assist and/or organize games, crafts, and other recreational activities
  • Supervise children to and from park, playground, field trips, etc.
  • Keep accurate records/tracking slips, attendance, lunch counts, etc.
  • Maintain proper staff to student ratio at all times
  • All other duties as directed by Corps Officer and/or Director

Qualifications

  • At least a Junior or Senior in High School with an outstanding academic report
  • Maintain an “A” or “B” average in his/her own academic reports
  • Be able to walk to and from schools (in assisting with school pick-ups)
  • Be able to work outdoors for recreational activities
  • Be flexible to assist the Director and/or other staff in any necessary tasks
  • Must understand and appreciate the mission of The Salvation Army.
