We're currently on the hunt for an Afternoon Shift Supervisor to lead the afternoon shift team, comprising two Drivers and one Planner/Dispatcher. The Supervisor is responsible for allocating work, coordinating operational activities, monitoring performance, supporting employees and ensuring customers and business requirements are met.

Here is some of what you will be doing:

In this role, you will be the key point of operational leadership during the afternoon shift and will be responsible for resolving day-to-day issues within delegated authority. You will also:

  • Allocate daily work and responsibilities based on operational priorities, customer requirements and available resources.
  • Conduct shift briefings and ensure employees understand daily priorities, special requirements and safety expectations.
  • Monitor employee performance, attendance, punctuality and compliance with company requirements.
  • Provide regular feedback, coaching and support to team members.
  • Address minor performance or conduct issues promptly and escalate formal matters to the Depot Manager and HR.
  • Promote a positive, respectful and productive working environment.
  • Lead by example and demonstrate a strong work ethic, reliability and commitment to safety.
  • Ensure employees follow company policies, procedures, safe operating practices and operational standards.
  • Ensure appropriate shift handovers are completed at the end of each shift.

The Afternoon Shift Supervisor is expected to provide operational coverage for the afternoon shift team when required, including providing Driver coverage during annual leave, sick leave, vacancies, unexpected absence or operational demand.

Hours of Work:

A minimum of 40 hours a week Monday to Friday between the hours of 3.30pm to 12 midnight, with flexibility to meet operational requirements required. This is a full-time permanent role based in Auckland. You will have the right to live and work in New Zealand at the time of applying. The successful candidate may be subject to undergo a Police Check and/or Pre-Employment Drug Test.

Qualifications

Here’s what you’ll bring to the table:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in transport, logistics, container, depot, warehousing or related operations.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience in a container depot, transport operation, shipping or logistics environment highly desirable.
  • Experience working with Drivers, transport providers and customers.
  • Experience with VBS, Container Chain, Transport Management Systems or similar systems advantageous.
  • Full New Zealand Driver Licence.
  • Forklift/OSH licence preferred.
  • F endorsement preferred where required for the duties undertaken.
  • MPI Transitional Facility Officer (TFO) qualification, or willingness to obtain within an agreed timeframe, where required for depot operations.
  • Relevant logistics, transport, warehousing or operational qualification is advantageous.
  • First Aid certification is advantageous.

You are an excellent communicator who can remain calm and solution-focused in a fast-paced operational environment. The role is a hands-on operational position and requires the Supervisor to work across depot, transport, dispatch and container control activities as required.
