About the Role

As an Aftermarket Technician, you will perform the assembly, disassembly, servicing, inspection, repair, and pressure testing of Pressure Control Equipment (PCE), including hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Working within the Aftermarket Service & Rental team, you will contribute to delivering safe, reliable, and high-quality equipment while supporting operational excellence and continuous improvement.

This is a hands-on technical position requiring strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a workshop environment.

About the Team

You will join a close-knit team of experienced technicians working alongside the wider Service Department at our Kintore facility. The team values collaboration, knowledge sharing, reliability, and personal accountability while encouraging technicians to take ownership of their work.

  • Assemble, disassemble, service, inspect, repair, and test Pressure Control Equipment (PCE).
  • Diagnose faults and troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Perform pressure testing in accordance with approved procedures and quality standards.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, technical documentation, and work instructions to complete assigned tasks accurately.
  • Maintain high standards of quality, housekeeping, and workplace safety within the workshop.
  • Identify equipment issues and report opportunities for product or process improvements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean and 5S activities.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative workshop team.
  • Participate in daily team meetings and contribute to operational planning.
  • Support colleagues across the workshop when required to achieve business objectives.
  • Complete work safely, efficiently, and in compliance with NOV policies and procedures.
  • Be prepared to work reasonable overtime when operational requirements demand.

Essential Qualifications

Experience

  • Experience within a mechanical maintenance, manufacturing, service, or workshop environment.
  • Practical experience working with mechanical equipment.
  • Experience working with hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to diagnose technical faults and solve mechanical problems.

Technical Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Ability to safely operate standard hand and power tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently using sound judgement and initiative.

Personal Attributes

  • Reliable with a strong commitment to attendance and safety.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Team player who is equally comfortable working independently.
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn new skills and processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent mechanical trade qualification.
  • NC qualification or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Experience servicing or repairing Pressure Control Equipment (PCE).
  • Experience working with Wireline or Well Intervention equipment.
  • Experience carrying out pressure testing activities.
  • Forklift certificate.
  • Overhead crane certificate.
  • Knowledge of Elmar or Anson product lines.
  • Previous experience within the energy, oil & gas, industrial equipment, or heavy engineering sectors.
