- Rockaway Valley: 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM (AM: 6:45 AM - 8:30 AM)
- Lakeview 2:30PM - 6:00 PM
- Riverview 3:00-6:00 PM
Staff can expect to be scheduled between 2–5 days per week. We strive to accommodate scheduling preferences whenever possible and may be able to offer some flexibility with shifts; however, flexible scheduling cannot be guaranteed and depends on program staffing needs.
Position Summary
The YMCA is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic After School Site Director to join our team. As part of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, the Site Director plays a vital role in ensuring a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children.
The Site Director is responsible for overseeing daily Kids Club operations, ensuring all procedures and program requirements are implemented according to YMCA standards and state regulations. This position supervises staff and participants, fosters positive relationships with children and families, and supports the professional growth of team members.
Essential Responsibilities
- Supervise staff and children to ensure a safe and positive program environment.
- Ensure all Kids Club procedures and protocols outlined in the staff handbook are consistently followed.
- Monitor compliance with state licensing regulations and YMCA policies.
- Plan and oversee culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate activities aligned with YMCA values, including:
- - Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)
- - Arts & Crafts
- - STEM activities
- - Sports & Games
- - Literacy programming
- Maintain program standards related to safety, cleanliness, and participant well-being.
- Follow YMCA policies and procedures regarding medical incidents, discipline, child abuse prevention, and emergency situations.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with children, parents/caregivers, and staff while modeling strong relationship-building skills.
- Ensure weekly activity plans are completed at least two weeks in advance and implemented as scheduled.
- Maintain accurate daily attendance records and follow Missing Child Procedures when necessary.
- Check YMCA mail at least once per week.
- Report staff absences and tardiness to the Program Director promptly.
- Mentor and coach support staff by modeling effective group management and activity facilitation techniques.
- Complete behavior reports as needed and communicate incidents to parents or guardians on the same day.

Qualifications
- College coursework in education, recreation, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with children, preferably in an after-school setting.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
