POSITION: After School Security Guard

Locations: John G. DuPuis Elementary 1150 W 59th Pl, Hialeah, FL 33012,

Hialeah Elementary 550 East 8th Street, Hialeah, FL 33010

South Miami Heights 12231 SW 190th Terrace, Miami, FL 33177

Hours: 3:30pm to 6:00pm (hours may vary slightly to accommodate program ratio coverage

Days: Monday thru Friday, school days only

The Security Guard plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, structured, and positive environment during after-school program hours. This position is responsible for controlling campus access, monitoring program areas, and assisting with safe student dismissal and parent pick-up.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the followingOther duties may be assigned.

Access Control: Monitor building entrances and exits, verify that only authorized individuals enter the facility, and maintain visitor logs.

Student Supervision: Maintain visibility during dismissal and parent pick-up procedures, ensuring students are released only to authorized adults.

Campus Patrol: Focus patrols strictly on active areas like the cafeteria, gymnasium, media center, or specific classrooms.

Emergency Response: Respond to alarms, investigate disturbances, and assist site staff in executing emergency protocols like fire drills or lockdowns.

Incident Documentation: Document and report any safety concerns, maintenance issues, or behavioral incidents to the site manager or school administration.

Public Relations: Serve as a welcoming presence, assisting parents with questions and addressing concerns in a calm, courteous manner.

Facility Security: Ensure doors, windows, and gates are secured and locked at the end of the evening. Attends YWCA staff training and weekly site meetings.

Performs other duties as assigned. Hours may change to accommodate staff/child ratio coverage.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent GED required.

Background Check: Clear Level II background screening

Experience: 1 to 2 years of experience working with children or in a school/campus security setting preferred.

Licensing: Valid Unarmed Security Officer License preferred

Skills: Strong communication skills, ability to remain calm in stressful situations, and a demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students and staff

Ability to read, write and speak in English; Spanish and Creole helpful

First aid / CPR Training Certificate; Must complete 10 hours of DCF training online.

Good Moral Affidavit/Attestation required, drug testing required.
