Job Description

$21 to $23.50/hr. Part time, up to 25 hours a week, hours that can work around school or another job.

Apply in about 8 minutes. No resume required; no formal childcare job experience needed.

BUILT FOR BRIGHT MINDS AND MESSY HANDS

EDMO has run after-school and summer programs since 2004: hands-on STEAM, real friendships, and kids who leave more curious than they came. 200+ school district partners across Northern California, and voted Best of the Bay 15 years running.

What you'll do

  • Lead STEAM and SEL activities that get kids building, creating, and working through things together
  • Be the steady one who manages the room with patience and redirects with care
  • Show up for parents, friendly and quick to share how their kid's day went
  • Keep things running: attendance, supplies, a safe and clean space
  • Keep growing: bring ideas, show up to training with an open mind, take feedback well
  • Plus whatever else the day needs. That's the job, and it's the fun part.

You would be a great fit if

  • You've spent time with kids in any setting, a job, babysitting, tutoring, coaching, camp, or your own family, and you learned something from it
  • You can hold a group's attention and gently bring them back when it wanders
  • You're creative, patient, and positive, even on the sticky, chaotic days
  • You know SEL and STEAM, or you're excited to learn
  • When you say you'll be there, you're there

Missing something on this list? Apply anyway. We'd rather meet you than miss you over a line item.

What applying looks like

A short application, about 8 minutes; a few questions about your experience with kids in any form it's taken; and four (4) video questions you can answer on your own time, no scheduling required. We follow up either way.

The essentials

  • 18 years or older
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Instructional Assistant exam, or an AA, BA, or 48 college units (waives the exam)
  • Livescan fingerprinting and a negative TB test
  • Able to stand, walk, and stay actively engaged with kids indoors and outdoors, including lifting up to 50 lbs

Ready? Bring your curiosity, courage, and kindness. We'll bring the glue sticks.

About EDMO

EDMO is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing equitable access to out-of-school learning experiences for kids by creating paradigm shifts aimed at dismantling systemic inequities and oppressive structures. Through our partnership programs, we create supportive, inclusive environments where kids explore awarding-winning STEAM and SEL focused curriculum specially designed to address our partnering school’s specific needs and requirements. Our out-of-school learning opportunities empower kids to cultivate a sense of self, own their impact and show up in the world with curiosity, courage and kindness. Furthermore, we are experienced in ELO-P funding requirements, program design and compliance to ensure your school meets state audit requirements.
