SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide a safe and healthy afterschool environment for children in Pre-K-6th grades
- Responsible for following all program standards for position to meet agency and regulatory standards
- Plan and provide afterschool participants with developmentally appropriate activities and experiences that meet a broad range of skills and interests
- Complete and implement lesson plan sheets weekly
- Establish positive interpersonal relationships among all individuals in the program
- Provide constant supervision of all children at all times.
- Use approved discipline techniques when dealing with a child's inappropriate behavior
- Consider each child in relation to cultural and socioeconomic background, treating each child with dignity and respect
- Assist with food and meal service distribution
- Display sound judgment in all situations; Exhibit self-control
- Share upkeep of facilities used by the agency; Observe scheduled work hours by being punctual and prepared
- Maintain confidentiality of parent, children and staff information
- Function as a cooperative member of the team; Attend staff meetings and agency training when available
- Recognize, document and take appropriate action of suspected child abuse and neglect, illness or accident

PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:
- Requires daily standing, sitting, bending and stooping (sitting will be limited to about 5% of your day)
- Requires normal range of hearing and vision
- Requires the ability to lift 40 pounds

- Ability to work within a public school setting
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Must be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license or state issued ID.
- GED or High School Diploma required.
- Bilingual and Spanish speaking candidates highly considered.
- Must be able to fulfill TXDHHS requirements as necessary.
