• Programs at all 7 elementary schools
• 1 route at Ashford, 4 at Brookview, 3 at Madison, 3 at Ramage, 3 at Sherman, 3 at Van, 1 at Whitesville
• Mondays and Wednesday only
• 6 weeks in the fall, 6 weeks in spring
• Begins September 28
• Dismissal at 4:45 p.m.
• Compensation: $25 per run

Job Summary

The Bus Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a school bus in transporting students to and from school, extracurricular activities, and other designated locations. This position ensures the safety, comfort, and well-being of all passengers while maintaining compliance with state, federal, and district policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Operate a school bus safely over designated routes in accordance with time schedules.
2. Pick up and discharge students at designated stops and schools.
3. Ensure student safety during loading, unloading, and while in transit.
4. Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus, reporting any mechanical issues.
5. Maintain cleanliness and orderly condition of the bus interior and exterior.
6. Enforce bus safety rules and district policies in a fair and consistent manner.
7. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff as needed.
8. Complete required reports, logs, and documentation in a timely manner.
9. Respond appropriately in emergency situations, including evacuations and first aid.
10. Participate in required training sessions, safety meetings, and performance evaluations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus and Passenger endorsements.
• Satisfactory driving record and ability to meet state/federal requirements.
• Ability to establish positive rapport with students and staff.
• Knowledge of traffic and highway safety regulations.
• Physical ability to perform job duties, including assisting students if necessary.

Working Conditions

• Exposure to varying weather conditions.
• Moderate physical effort required (lifting, bending, assisting students).
• Early morning and afternoon split-shift work schedule.
