Job Description

Reporting to the Director, the After-Hours Manager is responsible for the overall management and support of youth and/or adult resource homes, ensuring a trauma-informed and person-centred approach with both persons served and employees. As a key member of the leadership team, the After-Hours Manager oversees day-to-day operations of assigned resource homes and services, maintains communication with natural and paid stakeholders, and ensures compliance with CARF standards, funder requirements, licensing regulations, and organizational policies and procedures. This position may include transporting persons served; therefore, a valid Class 5 British Columbia driver's license is required. The role is based in Kamloops and requires regular availability to travel to the Okanagan region as operational needs arise. As a Service Delivery position, all work must be performed on-site. The schedule consists of seven 12-hour shifts within each two-week period.


Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Participates in the assessment, goal setting, and program planning (Personal Service Plan) for individuals living in a residence. Documents, implements, and provides input into the evaluation of the program.
  • Recognizes, analyzes, and manages potential emergency situations to minimize potential harm to the clients and/or the public, then reports concerns to the Directors.
  • Identifies social, economic, recreational, physical, vocational, and educational services in the community that will meet the clients' needs.
  • Maintains liaison with other agencies, professionals, government officials and the community.
  • Provides life skills training such as meal preparation, housekeeping, personal care skills and personal finance and implements personal service plans.
  • Participates in various client-focused activities in accordance with care
  • Provides emotional support and feedback to residents and their families.
  • Provides training, work direction and guidance to residence workers by performing duties such as clarifying program policies and reviewing work, including coverages during weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Provides mentorship to the residence workers through modelling, encouraging, supporting and providing Bring up any questions and or concerns to their direct supervisor.
  • Responsible for reviewing youth and/or adult files and documentation for accuracy, appropriateness of information and Provides feedback and training to staff
  • Advocating for and protecting the rights of the youth in compliance with ACYAS policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Responsible for coaching and employee relations with the staff in collaboration with Human Resources.
  • Ensures there are appropriate safety and risk management plans and staff adhere to the plans to reduce critical incidents.
  • Manages and debriefs critical incidents and reviews practices for changes to increase youth and/or adult safety.
  • Reviews all critical incidents that occur during their scheduled shifts for content and accuracy and provides support with the review of other incidents as
  • Provides support to staff through a trauma-informed and person-centred lens.
  • Manages employee performance through coaching, mentoring, and applying progressive discipline as required.
  • Manages human resource issues, including hiring, performance appraisal, investigations, discipline, and grievances. Hires and evaluates personnel and ensures appropriate orientation, training, and development.
  • Conducts staff meetings that include an agenda and minutes and shares organizational information with all staff.
  • Arranges and/or conducts individual or group training as required to enhance the skills of staff or address a skill deficit.
  • Models and supports self-care and is aware of the needs of the staff.
  • Works in collaboration with Program Directors and other departments to ensure all practices, procedures and policies are adhered to and documented.
  • Readily available over the phone and in person as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Education
• Diploma in related human/social service field.


Training and Experience:
• Two (2) year recent related experience.
• Three (3) year of Management
Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

Training:
You will participate in a comprehensive 11-day training program, followed by shadow shifts with your peers designed to fully prepare you to support youth and adults and employees in a safe, effective, and productive environment.
