Job Description

Join students from universities nationwide for a summer of research! Positions are part-time, on-call, not to exceed 1000 hours per year, expected May 2026 – Aug 2026. Participate in collaborative research projects with Air Force mentors. Conduct research in sensing and autonomy technologies, including sensor processing, modeling, and exploitation; object tracking and recognition; sensor development; navigation; and more.

Employment status: Part-time, on-call, not to exceed 1000 hours per year, expected May 2026 – August 2026

Participate in collaborative research projects with Air Force mentors. Conduct research to enhance Air Force capabilities in layered sensing modalities; artificial intelligence; aerospace components and sensor components; multispectral exploitation and detection; spectrum warfare; high performance computing; and more.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Acceptance into an undergraduate or graduate degree program at home institution in engineering, computer science, math, physics, or a related field
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred qualifications:

  • Strong academic performance
  • Due to the requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, some intern positions will require U.S. Citizenship and interns age 18 years or older

Job duties:

  • 100% - mentor-guided research in Air Force Sensors Directorate technologies

Compensation (hourly rate) is based on status for upcoming school year and past experience with this internship program or its predecessor programs.
