The Opportunity:


Are you a JOPES Specialist looking to leverage your expertise in joint operation planning and execution to drive strategic and campaign objectives for AFRICOM? Join our team and play a pivotal role in enhancing security, stability, and partnerships across the African continent! As an AFRICOM JOPES (Joint Operation Planning and Execution System) Specialist, you will provide expertise and advice to theater-level planning efforts to assist the geographic combatant command in meeting its strategic and campaign objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • You will work with operational planners during the Joint Planning Process by operating the JOPES/JPES system as a Functional Manager or sub-Functional Manager and link your results to the Global Force Management System.

  • You will coordinate with USTRANSCOM, AFRICOM’s component commands and other strategic and operational partners to identify and document courses of action. These activities will strengthen partner networks, enhance partner capability, address security and stability in key countries and regions, and set the theater for AFRICOM initiatives across the command.

  • You will interact with partners, both on and off the continent, to advance mutually beneficial plans, initiatives, and programs between the U.S. and key partners.

  • You will improve and expand relationships to solidify our position as the preferred regional security partner in Africa.

  • You will brief operational plans, inter and intra-theater requirements to General Officer/Field Officers, AFRICOM directorates and to component command teams.



Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree and 10 years of directly related military experience; OR 15 years of directly related military experience.

  • Certification/Completion of the JOPES/JPES Functional Manager’s Course.

  • At least 2 years of staff JOPES/JPES experience at the brigade/MAGTF level or higher as a Functional Manager or sub-Functional Manager.

  • A functional understanding of the Single Mobility System (SMS).

  • A functional understanding of the Global Force Management System and the Joint Planning Process.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Current Top Secret/Specialized Compartmented Information Security Clearance.


Desired:

  • 1-3 years of experience supporting planning and operations in the AFRICOM AOR desired.

  • Prior military experience as a senior mobility specialist.

  • Direct experience working in the AFRICOM AOR.

Pay Range

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$81,200 - 170,600 USD
