Location: Toronto, ON - Don Mills (81 Barber Greene Road) – (On-site)
About the Role:
Join Global News Toronto as an Affiliates Coordinator and play a key role at the heart of a fast-paced, national newsroom.
As part of our Network Resources team, you will help power the flow of breaking news and compelling content across broadcast and digital platforms, supporting our morning shows and connecting audiences coast-to-coast.
This is an exciting opportunity for a technically skilled, detail-oriented, and team-focused media professional who thrives under pressure and wants to contribute to impactful storytelling within one of Canada’s leading news organizations.
This is a Group 2 position under the current Collective Agreement.
You will contribute by:
• Coordinate the movement of content between stations, digital and other divisions of Global News and Corus.
• Help facilitate and coordinate double enders for affiliate radio and tv stations.
• Some basic editing of material for multiple platforms.
• Download and edit content where required.
• Coordinate distribution of raw material and packages through Media Net and Grass Valley for Affiliates and Online.
• Coordinate Network Pool Feeds.
• Knowledge of FTP, satellite and fibre bookings and ability to work with multiple file types.
• Perform other duties as required.
Skills and experience you will bring:
The ideal candidate will have the following:
• University or college degree in broadcast journalism or related field.
• Experience in feed center or resource desk with a multi-platform workflow.
• Strong Technical skills with knowledge and experience in ingest, feed coordination including file transfers and editing.
• Editing skills and familiarity with Grass Valley and Open Media.
• Diverse background in national news is considered an asset.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and perform in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment.
• Capable of working with tight deadlines while using sound judgment on news decisions.
• Proven leadership and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
