Paraprofessional - Aerospace Tech Support - EPIC Campus (. 5)

Part-Time Position

The Additive and Subtractive Lab Technical Support Paraprofessional is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the EPIC Campusl CNC machining, 3D printing, and welding lab. This role involves ensuring the safe and efficient use of equipment by students, performing regular maintenance tasks, addressing troubleshooting issues, and providing guidance to students engaged in project development.

This position provides a valuable opportunity for professional development and hands-on experience in the field of advanced manufacturing. The Additive and Subtractive Lab Technical Support Paraprofessional will play a crucial role in fostering a safe and productive learning environment for high school students pursuing interests in aerospace and advanced manufacturing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervision and Safety:
    • Monitor and enforce safety protocols within the lab to ensure a safe working environment for all students.
    • Provide guidance on proper tool usage, machine operation, and adherence to safety regulations
  • Equipment Maintenance:
    • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance checks on all CNC machining, 3D printing, and welding equipment.
    • Document and address any identified maintenance issues promptly to minimize downtime.
    • Coordinate with the instructor for more extensive repairs and calibration as needed.
  • Troubleshooting:
    • Address and resolve simple technical issues that may arise during lab activities.
    • Collaborate with instructors or external vendors for more complex problem resolution.
    • Maintain a log of troubleshooting procedures and solutions for future reference.
  • Student Consultation:
    • Offer guidance and assistance to students working on projects within the lab.
    • Foster a collaborative and educational atmosphere to enhance students' learning experiences.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance activities, and troubleshooting efforts.
    • Prepare regular reports on lab activities, issues addressed, and recommendations for improvement.
    • Collaborate with instructors to ensure alignment with the curriculum and educational goals.


EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience using Haas CNC 3-axis mills documented by work experience or Haas Basic Mill Operator Certification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience in CNC machining, 3D printing, and welding processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students and faculty.
  • Commitment to upholding safety standards and promoting a culture of responsibility in the lab.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds

COMPENSATION:

  • Classified Employee Schedule: Grade 6 step 3 - $22.98 per hour
  • This position is eligible for benefits
  • This is a 200-day contract beginning in August.
  • FTE 5
