
Position Responsibilities
Provides work direction and training for Flight Line Equipment Operators and AGE Mechanics
Communicates, both verbally and in writing, to ensure continuity of operations during and between shifts.
Sets example of professional work ethic and behavior
Supervises maintenance and repair of AGE equipment in at the airfields and in town.
Possesses considerable knowledge of machineryin order todiagnose, troubleshoot,maintainand repair Aerospace Ground Equipment either in the field or in a shop environment, with little supervision.
Performs service, maintenance,repairand overhaulin accordance withmanufacturer'srecommendations.
Interfaces with New York Air National Guard (NYANG) and US Air Force (USAF) personnelon a daily basis
Provides flight line services asrequiredand oversees AGE mechanics.
Performs work as specified on work orders or initiates work orders whenrequired
Provides direction, verbally and in writing concerning operation and repair of AGE.
Ensures work performed isin accordance withestablished procedures and/or manufacturer's specifications.
Conducts and records weekly safety meetings.
Routinely overhauls, repairs ormaintainsgasoline anddiesel-poweredequipment.
Uses diagnostic equipment and procedures to diagnose and correct equipment faults.
Inspects lift equipment anddeterminessafe operability prior to issue.
Operates shop equipment including load banks, welders, compressors,pressesand nitrogen charging units.
Performs generator set inspections and maintenance asrequired
Provides serviceable equipment to NYANG or USAF asrequested
Maintains lines of communications with supervisor,mechanicsand customers.
Writes performance evaluations on AGE mechanics.
Servicesaircraftlatrines, empties urinals.
Suggest and help developnew ideasto improve the quality and safety of the AGE department.
Documents work performed, status of equipment,maintainsrecords and generates reports asrequired
Informs AGE supervisor of discrepancies and facilities problem resolution.
Recommends parts re-supply to the AGE supervisor.

Works rotating shifts as required 24 hours/day.
Performs duties in support of Operations Division metrics (as provided by supervisor).
Supports the achievement of ASC metrics, whether metrics are directly or indirectly affected by this position's work activities.
Complies withall ASC Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals. Provide documentation to these divisions as necessary to ensure adequate and legal documentation.
Works to achieve ASC goals and contractual commitments.

RequiredEducation, Experience, Certificates and Licenses
High School diploma orGED
A minimum offiveyears of experience working with a combination of diesel and gasoline engines, AC/DC electrical systems, electronics, high pressure fluid and gas pumps, valves and controls, fuel burners and controls or equipment operation
ExpectedSkills and Competencies:
Complies withapplicable safety, environment, health, and waste management policies and procedure.
Proficient using Microsoft Office Word; ability to accurately document changes to work orders and inventory on a computer-based system.
Critical problem-solving and decision-making ability; able to work under minimal supervision.
Attention to detail extremely important.
Must be able to use sound judgment andpossesssoliddecision-makingability tosolve problems quickly, safely, and effectively
Must be able to pro-activelyidentifyjob hazards and communicate those hazards effectively.
Preferred:
Two years technical school or similar military training is preferred.
Welding experience is preferred.
Physical and/or Other Requirements
Willingness and ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods
Successful completion of Medical and Dental examinations required by the NSF for deployment to Antarctica
Successful completion of drug screening and background check required by employer
Successful completion of Federal Background Check required by the NSF
Must be willing and able to lift and move items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum as required by the position.
Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including heavy lifting, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors in extreme cold as required by the position.
Mustparticipatein community programs, such as “house-mouse” (chores), “daisy-picking” (cleaning-up around the station), recycling efforts & safetyobjectives
Valid Driver’s License issued in the United States
Must be able to obtain andmaintainfacility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship isrequiredfor facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
