Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking an experienced Aeronautical Engineer Deputy IPT/CAM Level 4 supporting the SiAW Airframe IPT This position will be located at our Advanced Weapons Business Unit in Woodland Hills, CA This role is onsite and follows a 9/80 schedule. Hybrid and remote work are not allowed

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of cost and budget for all Airframe IPT Scope, within assigned Control Accounts
  • Support the IPT Lead to oversee Airframe IPT Technical, Cost and Schedule​; review overall technical / design to validate work output​
  • Coordinate task execution of Airframe IPT team members consisting of mechanical designers, electromechanical designers, structural analysts, thermal analysts, mass properties analysis, and materials and processes engineering, and RF engineering.
  • Consult with chief engineer (ERB) on major technical decisions​ and support ERB meetings​
  • Participate in Sprint Planning / Meetings​, track & reporting task status
  • Tracking and mitigating risks and opportunities​; Participate in and support Government Risk Management Board​
  • Support supplier Mtgs & Action items, conduct supplier visits, as required​, and communicate with suppliers and customers to exchange technical information.
  • Work with Functional Managers to secure staff/resources and detail plan and execute the Control Account work scope.
  • Perform an Earned Value Assessment and Variance Analysis Report (VAR) Monthly.
  • Determine engineering tasks required for project planning and execution, communicate milestones and need dates to program leads, and make recommendations for improving own work and/or group’s work.
  • Coordinate with supply chain regarding supplier changes, cost reductions, process improvements, and coordinate with manufacturing regarding design and process improvements.
  • Collaborating with other functional areas on various aspects of product design/documentation, including procurement, production, logistics, or configuration management.
  • Assist team to develop/document best practices and mentor less experienced engineers; support test program under project team direction for design, fabrication, integration, and verification; support generation and execution of presentation materials for various reviews required throughout the design process; and work with procurement to ensure hardware and expendables are delivered to enable project execution.

Basic Qualifications

  • ​Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a relevant STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience; OR Master of Science (MS) degree in a relevant STEM discipline and 6 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 4 years of related engineering experience.
  • Experience working within or supporting an Integrated Product Team (IPT) or cross-functional programming team.
  • Cost Account Management (CAM) certification / experience.
  • Experience in Earned Value Management System.
  • Experience serving as an Integrated Product Team (IPT) lead, including coordinating cross-functional activities and interfacing with government/customer counterparts on technical, cost, and schedule.
  • Experience developing cost and schedule estimates for development of DoD.
  • Risk and Opportunity Management experience.
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • ​Ability to obtain/maintain a Government Issued Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications are:

  • Experience with Jira and agile development.
  • Experience designing primary and secondary composite aircraft parts/components, assemblies, and installations.
  • Experience designing for MIL-STD-810 testing requirements.
  • Proficiency in Creo, Siemens NX, and Teamcenter.
  • Experience working in or providing engineering support to manufacturing or test/evaluation, particularly for DoD projects.
  • Knowledge of engineering life cycle.
  • Knowledgeable in systems engineering approach to ensure program requirements are met.
  • Familiar with proactive risk management techniques, such as risk registers and failure modes, effects, and criticality analysis (FMECA).
  • Experience managing cost accounts of $10M+ annually in labor.
  • Active Government Issued Secret Clearance.

Primary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
