MANTECH seeks a motivated, career- and customer-oriented Operating Environment (OE) Engineer to join our team in King George, VA This is an on-site position.
In this role, you will assist Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) to support the digital and networking aspects of the Aegis system, ensures that the "detect-to-engage" process can be executed flawlessly and at lightning speed, allowing the ship to defend itself and its battle group from threats. Provide onboard and remote support to assist the ship’s force in the following areas:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Computer and Network Maintenance: This includes servers, routers, data buses (including fiber optics), and other digital interfaces to ensure that all the different components of the combat system can communicate with each other
System Diagnostics and Troubleshooting: use built-in and external test equipment to diagnose problems and understand how the various systems are integrated to pinpoint the source of a malfunction, whether it's a hardware failure or a software issue
Software and Data Management: Assist with loading, initializing, and running diagnostic programs to keep the combat systems software up to date and functioning properly to ensure the system is ready for any mission
Display and Control Systems: Work on the display consoles and other human-machine interfaces that operators use in the ship's Combat Information Center (CIC) to monitor and control the Aegis system
Support for Other Systems: While the primary focus is on the Aegis network, you may also apply your expertise to other interconnected combat systems on the ship
Ability to work independently and self-manage workload and priorities
Up to 50% CONUS and OCONUS travel to Hawaii, Guam, Spain, and Japan
Minimum Qualifications:
8+ years of AEGIS Combat Systems experience, design, development, testing, maintenance (fleet support), building, installation, documentation, and/or configuration management of combat systems
6+ years of technical experience specifically within the Operational Environment (OE)
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior U.S. Navy experience as an Aegis Computer Network Technician is highly desirable
Strong knowledge of the Aegis Weapon System and operation of associated stations and consoles
Clearance Requirements:
Must be a US Citizen and have a current and active Secret Security Clearance
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to remain stationary for 50% of the time
Must frequently move within shipboard or test lab environments to support troubleshooting and communications
