Job Description

A private household in the Upper East Side is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Laundress to support the care and maintenance of the home's extensive wardrobe and household linens. This position is ideal for a candidate with a strong background working with luxury garments, designer clothing, fine linens, and specialty fabrics. The family is looking for someone who takes pride in their work, exercises discretion, and maintains exceptionally high standards.

Laundry care is the primary focus of this role, with light housekeeping responsibilities available once laundry needs have been completed.

Family is flexible on which days and hours.

Responsibilities

• Laundering, pressing, steaming, and ironing garments and household linens
• Proper care and maintenance of designer clothing, couture garments, delicate fabrics, and specialty items
• Managing wardrobe organization and garment storage
• Identifying and following garment care instructions and fabric-specific requirements
• Maintaining fine linens, bedding, towels, and household textiles
• Spot treating stains and ensuring garments are cared for appropriately
• Monitoring laundry and wardrobe supplies as needed
• Assisting with light housekeeping and household organization once laundry responsibilities are complete

Qualifications

• Discreet, trustworthy, and professional demeanor
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently

Requirements

• Previous experience as a professional Laundress in a private home preferred
• Extensive knowledge of luxury fabrics, designer garments, couture clothing, and fine linens
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to maintain high standards of garment care and presentation
• Proven experience with ironing, steaming, and specialty garment care
• Ability to lift and manage laundry loads and perform household tasks as needed

Salary and Benefits

$35-$40/hr DOE
